Thus far this has been my favourite book of the series.
Montgomerys writing is just as beautiful as ever and she truly excells in nature descriptions. What newly grasped my attention (and love) is how she captured the complex emotions of growing up and leaving your home. I am actually in quite a similar situation currently and therefore teared up a few times.
Plot wise, the stroy is much more thicker then in the previous book. We follow Anne through a big chunk of her early adult life and as a consequence explore quite divers themes: female friendship, grief, love, change and so on.
I absolutley loved the very prominent Gilbert Blythe storyline, which i yearned for since book one.
Overall, it is such a comfort book and i hold very dear to my heart.

I liked this book far better than Anne of Avonlea and I revered in it. Oh to be going with Anne to Redmond College, to attend all the societies, balls and dances! I forever live for Anne's blue room in Patty's Place and for the orchard in the backyard. This books follows Anne between the ages of 19 and 22 and Anne isn't very partial to sentimental outpours from her beaux and enamoured boys, which seems appropriate for Anne's character. She instead lives through her studies and through her friendship with Prissy, Stella and Phil and eventually she takes up Roy as a beau, but chooses to refuse his proposal at the very end of her studies.
I wish Anne had spend more than just three years at Kingsport!
