The beautiful illustrations made this book magical. The question remains, did she find the jellyfish?
Very beautifully illustrated with pictures with a lot more to look at, such as facial expressions in all the boat rooms (like a Where's Waldo picture with lots going on). The story is also interesting, showing the scientific method and how the search for knowledge takes a lot of work and time!
This whimsical picture book has lovely, detailed illustrations and a humorous story. This can appeal to all ages.
The blues and reds in this wonderful story of exploration and determination really contrast with each other and make every page pop.
We follow the trip of Dr Morley and the crew of her ship as they travel to the Arctic to search for the elusive Giant Arctic Jellyfish.
They come across a lot of different Arctic dwelling creatures, Beluga, Narwhal, Polar Bear, and Orca but nowhere can they find the elusive Giant Arctic Jellyfish.
Does it exist, is it a myth, is it extinct? The game of hide-and-seek that Chloe Savage uses throughout is charming and fun, as is the artwork on every page though the double page spread with the Northern Lights is my favourite.
A strong story about perseverance, team work, and inquisitiveness.
With the Orca though, the more you know changes that page a wee bit.

I loved finding the jellyfish on (most of) the pages, I loved that our scientist is determined and persistent, the illustrations are beautiful, and there is just a lot to discover in this book.
I just wish that there was information about actual jellyfish afterward and whether the "giant arctic jellyfish" is real or what it was inspired by.
I just wish

Fun adventurous story with lots of illustrations of nature, and between the cross-sections of the ship and the hiding jellyfish, a lot of fun details for kids to look for. I also really liked the limited colour palette, especially in contrast to the Northern Lights spread
Loved the illustrations and this whimsical imagination story. This fun adventure to find a giant arctic jellyfish is a fun nod to Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
