4.5 STARS
This has probably been my favorite Jennifer Sucevic book. It was steamy, fun, and just overall a great listen.
It also had the added forbidden element of the hero being her ex-step-brother.
There is some puck bunny shaming but no shaming of the hockey player, but that is kind of part of the territory in a new adult sports romance.
I’m definitely excited to read the last one that she has published so far in this standalone series
Definitely recommend to hockey romance lovers.

Step-siblings, third act breakup
Love You Never is the second book in the Western Wildcats Hockey series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Carina and Ford had once been step-siblings – Carina’s “mother”, Pamela, had married Ford’s father, Crawford. Their parents got divorced, but Crawford still treats Carina as if she is his daughter.
There was always a connection between them, but they couldn’t be together because they were “siblings”. Now that their parents are no longer married, they can be together, but they because of their past relationship to each other.
Yet, Carina can never turn down a dare; so during a game of Truth or Dare, Ford dares her to kiss him. From there, they decide to be frenemies with benefits, but there’s a problem when Pamela comes back into their lives.
Ford and Carina’s story was great. It was obvious from the beginning that these two had feelings for each other. Ford was obsessed and knew Carina would kiss him when he dared her to. But he wanted more and didn’t want her to avoid him, so when a class project was announced, he instantly claimed her as his partner.
There was so much tension between them, stretching back to when they were in high school. The tension only increased when they had to spend more time together for their project. But again, there was just no denying that they both wanted each other.
I loved how Carina was respectful of Crawford. He was such a great guy, and she was actually protective over him. She didn’t want that POS Pamela coming back around, and it was because she knew Crawford deserved better.
Ford, though. He was so possessive over Carina. I’ll just say he went out of his way to ensure she stayed close to him and that no other guys dared to touch her. But my favorite part? He knew Carina’s love for books and bought them for her without her asking or saying anything , even when they were younger.
Anyway, this is a frenemies with benefits, college sports romance with a little bit of a forbidden twist. I enjoyed it and can’t wait to see what’s next.

I loved this book! I really enjoyed seeing how they navigated their relationship and how he was doing everything he could to be near her and keep an eye on her without her knowing.
I was so excited for Ford and Carina's story, but this fell short for me. Something was missing between the two. I don't think they matched, Ford definitely fell harder, and Carina seemed kind of flat. It's still a good read, but I definitely hyped this up in my mind too much.
