I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. The title of this book was honestly what grabbed my attention first and the summary sounded interesting enough that I requested it and was lucky enough to get it. This book was better than I expected, for the most part.
This is a YA book that takes place at a boarding school and is told between two perspectives (about an 85/15 split or so, maybe). Most of the book is told from Evelyn’s point of view. She’s new to this school, joining after some issues arose at her previous school. She finds herself roommates with Noelle. Noelle is a basketball player and is very abrupt. She’s not considered one of the nicer people in the school, but eventually her and Evelyn grow closer to one another. Seth is your other narrator. He is also new to the school and is insta-friends with Evelyn after a chance meeting on the train. He has to deal with some personal issues while also developing a crush on Jasper, Noelle’s best friend and school flirt.
I was a bit wary of this book at first. I have a few preconceived ideas when I hear the word Wattpad and I do have some wariness to teenagers writing books. This book isn’t that bad. The writing is pretty good and does a good job at developing a scenery without over-focusing on it. The dialogue was pretty good as well.
I really liked the characters in this book, and I wasn’t initially sure if I was going to. Evelyn is a sweetheart who seems to want the best for others and tries to help those that she can. Noelle is rude and standoffish, but she reveals a sweet side to herself as time goes on. Jasper has doubts about certain things, but he’s fun and flirty. Seth is a bit of a cynic, but he also has nice sarcasm and wit, and it makes things fun. The four of them together develop an interesting dynamic that makes it fun to read.
I only had a couple of main issues with this book. One issue is that the last quarter or so of the book just didn’t feel right and well-developed for the story. It felt a bit out of left field. Not completely since there were hints that there was more going on with Noelle than we were being shown, but I just think it could have been left out or more integrated into the story in order to make it better.
My other issue is that I wish there were more time for development between the characters. There is a decent amount of time, but I wish there were more with Noelle warming up to Evelyn and them growing closer. In that same vein, I wish the time split between the protagonists was either more even or cut completely. I would have liked more about Seth and Jasper, whether it be more in the same book or a sequel book that would have had the two grow and develop together.
I enjoyed this book much more than I had expected to. It’s interesting enough if you like YA, but the ending does throw in some drama that didn’t feel necessary. I thought it was a solid read though. I don’t know if I’ll ever re-read the book, but I also won’t harshly criticize it.
This appears to be a debut novel by this author (if I’m wrong someone please correct me). With that in mind, and keeping in mind that the author is 19, this is a good book. If I see another book by this author, I’ll probably check it out.

I think I would have enjoyed this book more when I was younger. Its a cute lgbt adventure and I love the representation that it has, the characters are nicely diverse but I really was hoping was more a teamup about tracking down the Chitter Chatter blogger, it was mentioned a few times as they make theories but never seen then actively looking into it until Seth gives us his theory randomly and him being right. It wasnt what I was expecting and really wanted more. But this book was still fun but a bit unconvincing in some parts.
This is maybe the worst book I’ve ever read. First of the rascist stereotype of the love interest Ts enough to give it too stars. Than though there’s the book itself. First off the author constantly tells instead of shows so the lessons that should be learned from the boom feel redundent. The lack of communication between the characters gets on my nerves to no end. They don’t talk and they’re relationship feels overly sexual and I never feel like I’m rotting for ethir of them. The male relationship is the book isn’t any better. I was never rotting for them and they weren’t toghter long enough for me to care about they’re breakup. Plus the the whole “ I don’t believe in long thing annoyed me so bad to no end. Like we get it your parents have a shitty marriage. Get fucking over it I swear. The plot twist of Amelia being fucking chitter chatter wasn’t even a suprise becuase we don’t met any other fucking characters. Who else was it gonna be the Liberian. I loved the predertory lesbian steytype really made the book better. Noelle was so overall sexualized that I hated reading the beginning parts of her character. Who does the nasty in a room where you have a roommate who you know is coming back any second. The last 60 pages of the book is what really fucking did it for me. It felt like when I used to read lams(John Laurence and Alexander Hamilton) fanfic and JD would randomly fucking show up. Like what a fucking kidnapping. It wasn’t some cool plot twist it was just a shitty end to a shitty book. Than not single one of the kids parents show up until the winter ball which is like a week after these kids have been kidnapped and stabbed. You would think that if your kid got kidnapped you would show up to the police station as soon as you get the call but no instead they wait a week until theyre kids have some shitty winter ball. Who the fuck does that. And it’s never seen as a bad thing.
Absolutely loved this book my favourite real-life fiction book I have read so far! I love a gxg storyline with two pan and bi besties or straight but still besties it makes it funny and cute! Evelyn is like my spirit animal how she speaks about things and feels I can relate to so easily! Can’t wait for more published books by this author!
welp you can definitely tell that it was a wattpad book
Wish there were more than 5 stars, cuz this def. fits that category! Very quick read from me, but that may just be because I'm gay and it's a very gay book lol
if i could give this book less than one star, i would. its so fucking cliche and incredibly racist. it's trying to be harry potter without actually being that. the main two characters have NO development for their friendship. the one Black main character/love interest is characterized so poorly. the one main character starts falling for a boy who's in a relationship at the time. i didn't finish this book. and i don't intend to. someone cleanse my eyes with holy water, i don't even like the premise of this book at this point. the author started it at 16 and trust me, it shows.
