I started this book at midnight as soon as it was released and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
I love this series and Aria is a total badass! We all knew from the last book that there would be some rough times ahead for Aria and Knox, but growth can make for a great read, and oh boy it sure did. This book will make you laugh, smile, and cry. You’ll be rooting for Aria the whole way, and maybe even Know a little too :)

Found out a few things that I suspected. Knox has finally opened his eyes and sees what's in front of his face, I knew he'd get there. I love the complexity of this series and world the author has created. I did notice that there were quite a few grammatical errors than in past books, maybe a new editor .
This series somehow manages to be both bad and good at the same time. I think the plot and general arc of the story is very strong. Also, Aria is a character you want to continue reading about because she is incredibly resilient. Like seriously this girl is TERRIBLY treated. The writing is very bad at times but not so bad that I would stop reading the series. Also the repetition and overlap of the story through both POVs is annoying but its happened less in the later books.
I waited to write a review bc I needed everything to settle in for a minute.
I think that this was probably the best book in the series, but also the hardest one to get all the way through. It’s by far the longest, and we know right from the start where the book is going to end but we don’t get there until literally the last few pages.
I think we see the most growth by our main characters in this book. Aria is starting to grow into herself, and it’s a treat. Knox feels like an entirely new person in this book, though. I know we’ve seen small steps in this direction throughout the series, but it was small steps to a flipped switch. One second we’re about 60% there and the next second we’re 100%. It doesn’t really fit the theme of his mental battles. It also doesn’t help that our main characters are almost entirely separated until about 80% the way though, just to be ripped from each other again.
I see so much promise in this series, but I will always feel the need to harp on the editing. This book was leaps and bounds better than the endless internal ranting and repetition seen in the previous three, but the editing is still sub par at best. I shouldn’t be removed completely from the story for missed words, incorrect punctuation, and even the occasional repeating the same exact thought twice back to back. It makes it hard as a reader to remain firmly seated in the story and the world.
All this aside, I very much look forward to the next installment in late 2022. Aria is positioned to do some seriously large things in the next book, and I’m anxiously awaiting the future we’re being drawn to.

I absolutely love Amelia and her amazing world-building and alphahole romances lol. It's just...after waiting with bated breath for this book I felt kind of disappointed? I am not sure how else to describe it. I think there is a pattern in Amelia's books (I know I gave up on the fae chronicle series after book 5. IYKYK) where the main character just stops being good, fun, and entertaining characters. This is not to say there weren't some great moments in this book (I did give it 4 stars lol) But I just missed Aria and Knox's witty banter. And there were points that I wanted to scream at Aria to stop being so dumb and gullible and just think for a damn second. Also, there are a lot fewer of some other characters I grew to love (Brander, Greer, and Lore.) They make appearances but obviously, this book was a growing journey for Aria.
First things first, if you loved the steamy scenes in the last 3 books you won't find them here. You get one good one towards the end and that is that. However, you do get quite a bit of funny banter between Aria and Ember which I loved from the other books and was happy that they continued in this one. You will also find out so much more about Aria, her parentage, and why things are the way they are. I didn't devour this book like I did the others but I think this book was needed. You get most if not all of your burning questions answered.
This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger so I hope we won't be waiting long for the next one. Also, this is much heavier than the other books. There is absolutely no happy ending in this book lol so brace yourself. There is betrayal after betrayal and at times I had to put the book down so that I could get out of my slump. From the way this book ended I do not see it getting better in the next book but I want to see what happens to Aria and Knox and the Nine Realms.

6 STARS ! It was absolutely magnificent!
Don’t even try coming for my girl, this book is a masterpiece! Amelia is a beast when it comes to plot, and I’m not disappointed!
If you’re a lover of epic fantasy, especially ones with beautifully crafted plot and range of characters, political drama, myth and legends, this one is for you.
Definitely the best book within this series so far and
was worth all the wait! I’m dying to read the next book and I’m beyond grateful for Amelia’s work: you can see that she’s poured her heart, soul, sweat and tears in it and I’m appreciative of her dedication and hardwork.
I don’t possess the ability to write detailed and eloquent book reviews and so I’m not able to convey with words what this book brought me, know that it’s just THAT good and I can already tell that it’s going to be one of my favorite books of the year!

I am so ready for the next book already.....We are finally starting to get a clear picture of what is going on. I'm excited for Aria to get answers to some of the biggest questions i've had through this series.
