This was a good visual adaptation of the classic tale, and it would be a good introduction to Bronte for reluctant readers. I enjoyed it.
I read the Scarlet Letter Manga Classic a few years ago and it was wonderful! Made me want to read the original novel. When I saw that they had put together a graphic novel for Jane Eyre as well, I went straight for it. This time I'd already read the classic, so I had the privilege of being able to compare the two.
The team does a great job of transforming the story. The art is gorgeous and they still maintain some of that sexy, mysterious feeling throughout Jane and Mr. Rochester’s courtship (and the total wrongness of St. John's proposal). Of course, all the key scenes in their relationship remain. The different format also helped me understand Bronte’s purpose in including Jane’s early schooling, which I totally missed the first time.
I was disappointed in two things only:
- Mr. Rochester did not once call Jane “piquant.” It was his favourite word (almost in excess) for her in the original and I’d hoped they would at least tip their hat in its direction.
-Jane was as plain as manga could make her (ha! Manga’s only fault is it’s too pretty!), but Mr. Rochester was handsome when he’s also supposed to be relatively unattractive.
Like Scarlet Letter, Jane Eyre is true to the story and a great introduction to the classic, not to mention super fun to look at.
A copy of this book was provided by Netgalley for an honest review.

Wow. I'm pleasantly surprised.
I read Jane Eyre several years ago, and I enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite classic of all time, but I enjoyed reading it and could understand the importance of in in history.
I'm totally shocked that they were able to break down the classic into a well-read manga. I don't know if I would go so far as to say that you would be able to read this instead of the classic for a class test/essay, but, the manga classic gets almost everything right and succeeds in making the story enjoyable.
Also, something that was really cool, was at the end, there were extras: information about the drawings, the time period, etc. which added to the enjoyment.
Overall, I'm really impressed. But, maybe read the classic first, because it would be hard to read after.
**I received a copy from the Udon Entertainment and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books of all time! This manga adaptation is beautiful and it manages to capture the essence of the original story perfectly. Jane was so freaking adorable! I loved experiencing the story in the manga setting, a little less serious and a lit bit on a light side. I’ll definitely recommend it to the fans of the classic.
I wish this series would produce more of these Manga classics! Just as beautiful and compelling as the original. An enjoyable read for Jane Eyre lovers!
A faithful adaptation of one of my favourite books. I thought the style of art and the flow of it was very clear: sometimes manga can be confusing to read because the flow is weird, there's too much going on on the page, the characters all look the same, etc, but this was very easy to follow. I enjoyed it a lot!
This wonderful classic has been beautifully adapted into manga with gorgeous art and loses none of the feeling from the original novel!
One thing the world did not need was a manga retooling of [b:Jane Eyre|10210|Jane Eyre|Charlotte Brontë|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327867269s/10210.jpg|2977639]. Jane does not need to be portrayed as a wide eyed Shojo manga heroine who looks like she can barely tie her shoes and drawing her passionate verbal duels with Mr. Rochester as frenetic hand waving Looney Tunes battles complete with little puffs of smoke works about as well as you'd expect.
This had all the romance, girl power, and emotional impact of my left nostril.

A perfectly serviceable adaptation of Jane Eyre with a clean art style and faithful narration. Jane Eyre is one of my favorite classics, so getting to read this was a treat. I will say that the pacing of the story feels too quick, as I was able to read it in less than an hour and did not get the same lush, haunting atmosphere of the original. I also feel that Jane was rendered perhaps too "cutely" which highlighted the age gap between her and Rochester (although she is of legal age, he is 46 and it shows). Certainly, times were different, but I would have preferred a sharper, more mature face for her. Still, the overall quality is quite nice, and getting to experience one of my favorites in this new medium was fun.

As a thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced reader copy by Stacy King (Goodreads Author) (English script), SunNeko Lee (Art by), Crystal S. Chan (Story adaptation), Charlotte Brontë. Coming into this magna classic, I have had previous experience with “The Count of Monte Cristo” and found it quite enjoyable. After having read Jane Eyre for the first time last year, I thought it would be interesting to compare how Charlotte Bronte’s story would translate to magna. It is I found to be similar in theme and importantly tone. With a known classic like Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre there is a familiarity with the story and its characters. With the magna it was able to translate its content into using dialogue from the novel. It was nods like these that contained the story and kept it feeling like a classic. I appreciated the art style, and the ability to adapt a known classic into this format. Overall I enjoyed it .I highly recommend this to fans of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte, and Classics. You will not regret it. On a scale of five stars, I gave this three out of five stars on goodreads.
