I just couldn’t do it. The writing was pretty bad. The story was intriguing but not intriguing enough

I would really like to give this book 2.5 stars but I don’t think it deserves 3 so we’ll keep it at 2. I read this book after seeing it recommended on TikTok. I really enjoyed how the first half of the book was written, where the plot kept going back and forth between the present and the past. It was really interesting and grabbed my attention very quickly. Once you realize what’s going on and Jefferson is on the boat, the book kind of lost me there. Jefferson is a very unlikable, gross, kind of a douche of a character so it was really hard for me to get invested into his story. As I read this book there were definitely moments that caught me off guard and gave me an “oh god” moment because of the shock factor, which I did like about this book. All in all this book was okay! It kind of reminds me of something I would have written in high school though. I did appreciate that it was very easy to read and understand and you knew exactly what was going on. Would I recommend this book? Probably not.

This has the potential to be good but I mean, why the hell are there no answers whatsoever. Zero climax to the story and zero explanation. I stayed up reading it for nothing.

This book is unsettling, cruel, and disturbing. I read it all in one sitting because i couldn’t put it down, it’s definitely a page turner.

It started off good but didn't really go anywhere. The ending felt like the author got bored of writing and I especially hated the last couple lines. It was too predictable and I'm sure Coomer could have thought of a more creative ending. I get why some people like it but it fell a little short for me.

was there... supposed to be something insane with this book? i guess the lack of explanations are supposed to make it interesting, but it just made me frustrated. in fact, the entire book just made me frustrated and i felt like the eventual plot twist wasn't interesting.
