Strange, strange read. Long, winding metaphor that was only clear at some points. BUT we love an old man in crisis so B is still my number one.

Not as much chest-punching as the comics. A bit disappointing in that regard.

I started this book today and I am giving up on it today. It's causing me physical pain to try to follow this plot. The writing is convoluted and making my eyes and brain bleed.

Reading is supposed to be a pleasurable activity, this book does not play by the rules.

Longtime China fan here. There's still a lot of great prose (and Keanu broodiness) in this work, but editing felt rough even by Mieville standards.

The slow start for with plot lines and multiple points of view made it difficult to get through early chapters. I was intrigued to see how a few puzzles would be solved. Although I did finish, it is not a book that I will reread or recommend to my friends.
