(Disclaimer: I'm not familiar at all with the comics, which I understand are getting a Netflix adaptation)

Really riveting until perhaps the last 30 pages. The font variations bring something very interesting to this pluri-vocal narrative. I genuinely liked the characters. Of course, this is screaming for a movie adaptation with Keanu Reeves playing the main character, 'B'. Perhaps the authors could have tried to be more subtle about it... Disappointingly, I felt let down by the resolution, although I'm struggling to put my finger on the issue. Was it too quick? Trying to cram in too much explaining right at the end, and failing to convince? Let's just say that the execution felt wonky. The Book Of Elsewhere was nonetheless a very pleasurable read, and I would recommend the curious reader to give it a go.

slightly under a three for me, like a 2.75.

Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the comic book series. I don't know. In many way, you can see this a Hollywood book, though there Mieville touches (like the undying pig among other things), but there is also a level of not enough, but also too much. At some points, the side characters get a little lost. At times, it seems like it wants to be a book that tells a story about mental health (and those areas are really good). It almost felt too busy. But I liked Diana and the eternal enemy being an undying pig.

Couldn’t get into it. The writing style was…obtuse.

Some books just aren’t for all people, and this one isn’t for me. I don’t really like books focusing on lot of action, or stories heavily steeped in the military, and this is both. It’s probably a very good book if you like those things—I really can see the promise—but I don’t.

I think I took so long to finish this book because I didn't want it to end! Just wow. This will definitely stay a favorite and I couldn't recommend it more. It wasn't an unsatisfying ending, but I hope there might be a sequel because I want to read more about Unute, stories from his long life, and if he solves any more mysteries about his existence.

Just couldn’t get into the book or what was going on. For me it was a hard book to read at night, I would lose my place along the story line. And I just couldn’t get engaged enough to continue.
