The writing styles of the two authors never really felt like they gelled well for me, and I found it affected the flow of the narrative. It seemed to take ages to get going then suddenly had to rush to an ending and fumbled it. I’d probably read a sequel if it was written but it definitely feels more suited to being a graphic novel.

Unfortunately this book was simply not for me. I REALLY wanted to love this because Keanu, but this narrative bordered on incomprehensible. i may try this again someday in the future, but for now there's just no joy here, and i refuse to spend any more of my time in that energy.

i’ve never read a book before where i could clearly see in my head how the panels would be laid out if it was a comic book. i think it would’ve been better if it was a graphic novel.

It feels wrong to rate a Keanu Reeves’ book as 1 star, but this book was a serious slog to get through. The narrative is unnecessarily unfocused and confusing, and I usually appreciate beautiful, wordy prose even if the story is slow. I wish I could provide at least a short summary for what it is about, but the story went nowhere, and it felt like a jumble of words.

Unfortunately, I could not finish this book, and I would say look elsewhere for your next pick, even if you are a Keanu Reeves’ fan (which I still am!).

Thanks, NetGalley for providing an ARC for review.

I'm so confused and I'm not invested enough in the story or characters to continue.

Thank you to Random House Publishing Group, Ballantine, and Del Rey for providing me with an eBook copy to review on NetGalley.

I am a fan of both authors, so I had high hopes for this book. However, it feels like Mieville and Reaves have pushed each other to create more of a high concept artwork than a readable novel. To be fair, the story is a novelization of a character from Keanu's graphic novels, so it is not too odd that each section of text reads like it is describing panel after panel of cool comic art. And because Mieville is a masterful writer, the prose is beautiful although often way over the top in form and choices of words. Somehow it just did not all come together for me. Not recommended.

A good expansion on the BRZRKR characters, and a gripping read.

Some reviews on here complain that it is hard to get into, but it is written by China Mieville, who always seems to start his books 4 chapters in, and then makes you play catchup, but the work is worth it! If you struggle, then reading the first BRZRKR book will help loads to set the scene.
