I was unaware, on starting this, that it was connected to Reeves's BRZRKR comic series, which I have not read. Eventually that became clear - or rather, I began to suspect that Reeves was slightly fixated on the "immortal warrior" trope, but the ending credits of the audiobook stated that it is intentionally connected to the comics series.
Without that context, this still works very nicely as a standalone novel. For something so full of gory violence, there's more philosophical pondering than you might expect - it could even be uncharitably said to wander into navel-gazing at points, but never for long. It takes a somewhat nihilistic perspective on life, but ultimately it is an affirming view rather than an empty one. The audiobook was well narrated, with a too-brief segment by Reeves who is excellent to listen to but the broader cast was well done and gave a degree of depth to the narrative and perspectives.

If you like Mieville, you'll like this book. As typical with most of his books, the pacing isn't the best, you'll have to look up a lot of words, and it's overwritten.
The prose is beautiful, and when the story hits, it hits.
Keanu Reeves seemed to be able to reign in Mieville a bit, and the book is a bit more readable than usual.

Immortality handled well.
Wording was off and didn’t make sense, it drove me nuts. I didn’t even get past page 5
