A sweet, contemporary romance filled with fun dates and a no-string relationship that becomes so much more.

Larson approaches Dane for a no-strings arrangement to let off some steam from her high pressure job and Dane is the new security guard at the hospital that would normally not be the type of man she would date. This makes him the perfect man for not getting attached since he’s all about fun and not settling down.

Larson Belle and Dane Owens come from two different backgrounds and lead very different lives, but could Belle keep her Beast even if that wasn’t the agreement to begin with?

Their relationship moves pretty quick, but it is a no-strings relationship after all. Larson and Dane are steamy and have their own kinks, which was nice to see the buttoned up Dr. Belle loosen her lab coat.

This is a standalone story, but it does weave through the other characters of Bayside and what they may be going through in their own relationships too. It was nice to know who’s who, but not necessary to follow along in this particular storyline.

A 4.5 star read

Belle and her Beast

Larsen let her hair down and she will never regret it. Sexy, fun, and the exact prescription for living...Dane is everything she never knew she needed. Against parental orders, this Dr. is getting all 8 inches!!

"We might be screwed up—not to mention an unlikely pair—but the challenge seems to work for us. This battle is better fought together."

Sweet and romantic, encouraging and supportive, heart-felt and emotional, fun and playful, charming and unabashedly sexy.

I adore how Larsen (Belle) and Dane bring out an inner strength in each other that really creates an emotional connection and depth of character that makes a seemingly casual funtime distraction that inevitably turns into more story so much more.

Two down and two to go; I'm loving the Bayside Heroes series!

*The four books in the Bayside Heroes series can all be read as stand-alone novels.

I loved Belle and Dane's story.
It was sexy, funny, dramatic, entertaining and playful.
I enjoyed the way they grew closer throughout the book—the beautiful connection they created—the surprise dates.
The way that Dane loved Belle was so delightful. He was surprisingly romantic. Super sweet, super swoony.

I loved the fairytale references throughout the book. Their friendships were also a highlight, I enjoyed the relationships between all the characters - the teasing between friends, their loyalty, and their supportive nature.

I can not wait to get stuck into the next book in the series!
All the stars!

This was such a sweet and Swoony romance. I love the chemistry and snarky banter between Dane & Lars. This was a fun opposites attract story, with spice, openness, and falling in love.

A very steamy medical romance with no strings attached which we all knows leads to some feelings becoming involved. Dane and Lars were characters that I was intrigued in from book one and I wanted to see what was going on with them. They both have issues with parents and their upbringings that are similar and leave them with walls sky high. Neither wants a relationship, Lars is too serious into dedicating her life to her job as a Psychiatrist and Dane just does’t commit to anything even jobs. What starts as a steamy no strings relationship they kind of flow into this progression of more with ease. I didn’t feel like they struggled too much with the direction things were going for them. This was a great read and I am looking toward reading this rest as these group of friends and characters have been fun, emotion, and endearing.

This book was H-O-T. The steam level was significantly higher than this author’s other stories, but it didn’t feel unnecessary or excessive. The main characters start out as a casual, F Buddy relationship, so the sexy-fun-times felt like they enhanced the story, as they changed from fun to intense.
The story was interesting, with complicated pasts creating a pair of people with a host of emotional issues, and watching them navigate their personal minefields in order to build a lasting relationship was intense.
I really liked this story and am now interested in reading the companion stories by the three other authors!

Larsen Belle is a reserved psychiatrist in a busy hospital. Between her introvert personality and demanding career, there’s not much room in her life for fun so when her best friend convinces her to take a chance, Larsen agrees. She probably should have started out slow, maybe flirting but Larsen knows what she wants and she goes for it. And “it” is approaching the smoking hot new security guard at work to propose a no-strings attached hookup.

Dane can’t believe his luck because a relationship is one thing he’s never wanted and the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on just proposed this. She’s a dream come true. These two hit it off immediately and mesh perfectly from the start. Things seem a bit mushy at times for people who aren’t open to a relationship, especially because the Belle and Beast nicknames are established so early on but it works.

These two manage to be both adorable and scorching hot, which is no small feat. They’ve both been hurt by people they love so trust and attachment don’t come easily, but they both realize that the only potential obstacle to happiness is themselves and they’re willing to fix that. It’s fun watching Larsen come out of her shell and find herself outside of the hospital and Dane is everything. Hot, protective and loving, he makes an effort to plan fun dates and force her to relax while they try new things together, but he also has an incredibly dirty, very bossy mouth, so he’s the whole package. I loved Dane and Larsen’s story, I couldn’t get enough.

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Bayside Heroes’ series second book, Screwed Up, by Harloe Rae is a jaunt into the opposites attract, “one-night-stand-into-more” relationship between hospital security guard, Dane, and the resident psychiatrist, Larsen Belle. Rae plays with the Beauty and the Beast allusion throughout her story, denoting how Dane and “Lars” are quite different, but clearly suited for each other. These two have clear chemistry throughout the entire book, and their romantic trek towards realizing a future beyond one night is the driving force of this book. The ultimate climax of the book comes about 80ish% in when they have to face the hurts of their pasts in order to fully realize their happy ending. Yet, for much of the book, Dane and Larsen’s story is more exploratory than anything. Rae has created moments, inauspicious dates, between the two where they learn about their growing love for each other and they simply have fun together. Dane breathes life into Larsen’s carefully controlled life, and Larsen brings Dane a connection. There isn’t really a surprise when they acknowledge their feelings for each other. Rather, Screwed Up is a rolling journey into love for these two with very few pitfalls along the way.

If you love the sweetness of two people finding their “one,” you’ll really love this story. Screwed Up isn’t really screwed up after all.
