3.68 AVERAGE

What an entertaining story! It helped to better understand Lee and Shayna by reading the prequel False Start. I enjoyed this second chance, sports romance. Their chemistry had sparks flying each time they were in the same room. Great connection between them and I enjoyed their journey. I can’t wait for the next book!

Joe Arden and Callie Dalton did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.

False Start and You Had Your Chance Lee Burrows by Piper Rayne were so much fun to read! I am not a football romance lover, but Piper Rayne made this topic interesting to me as there was a perfect amount of football lingo that was great for your average watcher or someone like me who really knows nothing at all about football except, they have hot player/coaches.
I usually don’t think it’s necessary to read the novellas but for this story I would suggest that you read False Start before you dive in. It will help you better understand the dynamic of the characters.
Lee Burrows and Shayna Kudrow met in college when Shayna was assigned to tutor Lee. Things evolve and get spicy however, you can’t have the good without the bad… Insert college boys and college boy games.
YEARS LATER
Lee is QB1 of the San Francisco Kingsmen and Shayna is their new team physical therapist.
With fire in her eyes Shayna knows she cannot have relationships with the players – besides Lee doesn’t deserve her time. With some groveling and the instant attraction that was lingering from college. Maybe getting to know him and spending some time between the sheets isn’t a bad idea?
Do Shayna and Lee have what it takes in this second chance. Forbidden., first love story?

Joe Arden and Callie Dalton are couple perfection in this sassy football romance !

If this is the start of the series I can’t wait to get my hands on Brady Banks!

This one was just okay. I liked it enough to continue, but something was missing. I've read a few of Piper Rayne's books before, but not too many.

We have Lee Burrows (obviously) and Shayna. He's a pro football player, and she's the new athletic trainer, and they have a bit of a college past.

The story moved a little too quickly, so we never really got the true details of that breakup, which is the center of why they currently have their drama-filled relationship. There could have been a lot more character-building. That's one of the reasons the story didn't hit 4 stars for me. It was short and easy to read/listen to. I wish there had been more to the story. It felt like we were missing so much. There weren't all the laughs I had hoped for. The characters all fell flat, and the story moved without a lot of substance.

If this had been a bit longer, with some more information on the characters' past and present circumstances, it might have earned a higher rating from me, but it just didn't. The smut stars are nil, and the story is a 3.5 rounded down.
lighthearted

While it's not a requirement I recommend reading the prequel novella before jumping in to this one.  It will make the main characters make more sense than just going in blind without their backstory.

4.5 ⭐️
This was a story with a lot of ups and downs. I liked Lee much better in this one than the prequel. But Shayna I feel could have been a bit more open after they got back together. Though, I do understand her hesitance. And she was right in what would happen if the organization found out about them. And it was not fair at all. But then again, it all worked out it the end. Lee and Shayna were adorable together though.

Lee Burrows is still an idiot as an adult. My God, how someone doesn't compute that his girl could/would lose her job is beyond me. And for a self-sufficient woman, how does Shayna not know how to turn off the water in her sink and her first recourse is to call the super??

Lee Burrows & Shana
I listened to the prequel and this one, having read the Brady Banks book first a few months ago. It’s a fun listen and a good story. Joe Arden & Callie Dalton did a good job. I really like Arden’s voice. Too bad he’s problematic.

Hey Piper rayne has a new series*runs to Kindle*… lol new series alert and I am not surprised that this duo has delivered! First I want to say that I love the covers so far that I have seen. It’s cool to see the different styles of covers for each series. Colorful and flirty. Ok second let’s talk about these worlds that they create that just pulls you in! Sometimes love is messy and not all rainbows and I love that they can write it and redeem it in the end. I will say I was definitely not Team Lee at all but by the end he wooed me under his spell. Shayna and lee have history and it’s not pretty. He is hoping for a second chance but the emotional road back to HEA will be rocky at best! This is a page turner that will make you excited for the next!
