Tbh nothing about this book stood out. It was solid but nothing to write home about. I did like how they managed to give her a happy ending though
@authorpiperrayne is an auto buy for me and I was so excited to start their new football series Kingsmen Football Stars. We got a glimpse of Lee Burrows in their previous hockey series #HockeyHotties, Offside with #55 through his brother Kane so I was very ready for this series to begin.
Lee Burrows is the QB1 for San Fran’s Kingsmen and in a contract year so he has to be his best so that he can stay with the Kingsmen. Then the first day of preseason, in walks Shayna Kudrow his ex from college. Shayna is a new athletic trainer for the team and not excited to be around Lee again.
In college they dated and Shayna thought it was her great love, but it turned out they started dating due to a bet Lee made. Obviously causing them to end in less than ideal terms. However Lee has always regretted that and wants nothing more than to apologize and see if they can start over. They have to face many obstacles, mainly how it is against the rules for athletic trainers to date players but the end of this book has a great surprise!
I always love starting new series because we get glimpses into the characters for the upcoming books. I am so excited to watch Brady, Miles and especially Chase fall in love! I can tell this will be another great Piper Rayne series.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows is the first book of a new series and it is off to a great start. This story has lots of witty banter, warm feels, and sizzling chemistry and romance. Everything that is so easy to love about Piper Rayne's books.
Lee is a football player and they get a new person on the medical staff. Shayna and Lee dated in college, breaking up because she found out Lee made a bet with his friends. She is hurt and wants nothing to do with Lee. Only Lee has never gotten over her and will do whatever he can to show her he is a good man and still cares after all these years.
Shayna gets her dream job with the Kingsmen. She knew she was going to see Lee, but didn't know what that was going to happen. When he keeps showing up, being there for her, showing her she can rely on him she lets him in. They know they are not supposed to be in a relationship, but the chemistry between them keeps pulling them together. Shayna is good for Lee and he knows he needs her.
These characters show a team of players who are like family. They are always there for one another, razzing them if they get a chance, or supporting them when they need it. You get a glimpse in some cases of the other players, others you get to know better and want more of them. When these authors create a world it is like Alice and Wonderland it pulls you into the world. You become invested in the characters. I recommend this book and hope you enjoy it.

So much to get acclimated to in this new series focused on the San Francisco Kingsmen football team. The book begins with Shayna starting a new position as an athletic trainer for the Kingsmen knowing her college ex she hates is the starting quarterback.
Lee Burrows QB1 for the Kingsmen is floored to see the his college ex-girlfriend, the women he wronged so badly, being introduced as part of the team’s medical/training team.
The long held resentment Shayna has for Lee was a bit overwhelming in the first few chapters. I haven’t read the prequel False Start so maybe she’s totally justified in how much she despises Lee; but in his defense once he sees her at the start of training camp he has eyes for no one else. Lee comes across as remorseful and completely determined to win Shayna back without comping across as obsessed of creepy.
I’m not sure what to think of the other players in Lee’s close knit crew who will be featured in their own books in this series. I’m intrigued with getting to know more about them.
I received a free ARC from the author and Valentine PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

If you enjoy football sports romances this one was a lot of fun! I loved that the QB was Canadian and that it was a second chance romance that reunited college lovers when Shayna gets hired as part of QB Lee's PT team. A steamy forbidden romance with a lot of heart that was great on audio narrated by Joe Arden and Callie Dalton. I'm excited to read more books in this series!
