A second chance romance contemporary romance. Eight years ago, quarterback Lee Burrows made a stupid mistake and lost the first woman he ever loved. He was certain he’d never see her again- until she walked into the San Francisco Kingsmen’s team meeting as their new sports therapist.
Shayna be when she joined the sports trainer team for the San Francisco Kingsmen that she’d come face to face with the college football star who broke her heart eight years ago. What she didn’t expect was that he’d still care about her, and was willing to do anything to repair the heartache he’d caused her.
Piper Rayne does a great job on this enemies to lovers, second chance romance, and I’m looking forward to reading Lee’s teammates’ stories as the series progresses.

I really enjoyed Lee and Shayna's second chance story. My heart was broken for Shayne at the end of the prequel Novella, so I was glad to see her come back.
I loved Lee's grovelling, and working to win Shayna back.

As a sucker for second chance/sports romance, this book was right up my alley.
Despite my three star rating, I really did enjoy reading this book and all the characters. I loved seeing the semi- small plot points of all of the other players and figuring out what the next book will be (I did figure out Brady's book based on his single dad status alone, Miles was easy because of Bryce, and Chase's was easy too). Shayna and Lee were a cute couple and even though I was annoyed at Lee for the whole job.relationship mess for a second, I'm glad to see an actual change in his understanding. I was also happy to see focus on Shayna and Lee's family dynamic and how it affected them.
I gave this 3 stars because this book seemed easy. By easy, I mean that everything felt very cookie cutter written to match this trope. I would have loved a little more depth into each character and more internalizing dialogue instead of a base layer of writing. I am still interested in reading the other books, but I hope that I see more of character conflict depth.
This was an easy and fun read and I would still recommend to people who love this trope as much as I do!

I loved Lee and Shayna's story! There is just something about second chance romances that I adore.
Their journey back to each other wasn't easy, but boy was it worth it.
That moment of conflict...that dramatic moment...oofta that was rough. I knew something like that was coming, and it had me questioning intentions for a brief moment. Also the owner of the team just rubbed me the wrong way.
Loved this kick off to the series. I am definitely curious about Brady, Chase, and Miles. I have a feeling their stories are going to be equally as enjoyable.
I can't lie, I was hoping to see Kingston make an appearance, but that was easily explained as to why it didn't happen.

disappointing
Really enjoyed the hockey series but this was total tripe. The characters were immature and the story line wasn’t even worthy of college romance. Over compensating with graphic sex doesn’t make a book readable, if I wanted just that I’d buy black lace. It’s a no from me

Audiobook/Ebook Review
Only a select few authors can make me forget my dislike for sports romance and with You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows, Piper Rayne moves to the top of that list. Shayna and Lee turn frustrating into funny while walking a fine line between heartache and temptation. With the edition of Arden and Dalton, personality leaps right off the page and into your heart. Frustrating has never been so irresistible.
Second chance romances can go either way for me and I feel like Rayne made some good choices here. Shayna definitely has her reasons for holding on to old hurts – Lee did her pretty bad. (I haven’t read the prequel and, while it can be read without it, a good many reviews say that it helps with adding extra dimension to their relationship.) She’s not going to let him keep her from accepting her dream job though, she’ll just have to be strong and ignore him. Which is easier said than done when he’s intent on apologizing for his mistake.
Lee never forgot Shayna so having her walk into his world again is his chance to get her to forgive him … and maybe something more. It soon becomes obvious she’s not going to be won over easily but he’s not giving up. He just has to be patient and prove he deserves a second chance.
The first part of the story is the resolution of their past hurts. It’s handled well and I feel like Lee redeems himself nicely. I’m with Shayna, those kinds of broken hearts take a lot to get over, but his sincerity is easy to feel. So their struggle soon moves from their history to their present circumstances, which forbids any fraternization between Kingsmen players and staff. And we all know how that’s going to go :) I will say that while the intent may have been to show that Lee has embraced his privilege, he instead reads as very naive. He’s the leader of his team, wealthy, and in the public eye. How he didn’t see the way things would go from the beginning, like Shayna told him it would more than once … instead it just has him come across as unworldly and inexperienced. He may feel like his position has power but Shayna knows the truth. So then the question becomes what happens next.
I enjoyed getting to know Lee & Shayna and seeing how they resolve their issues. I also really liked meeting their friends and I’m anxiously waiting to see what Rayne has in store for them. Brady is quite the character and I’m hoping his new nanny can keep him on his toes!
(I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.)

I would give this a 3.5/5
I think a lot worked in this story. The second chance romance and the forbidden workplace romance were really entertaining to read. Shayna and Lee have a complicated history and I loved how that played into their reunion. The sort of enemies to lovers is always something that's going to light sparks between characters. All those sparks lead to some good spice too!
My main issue with the story is the third act conflict. I think it just wasn't executed well and left me feeling like the ending wasn't a true HEA. It seemed the heroine had to give up so much and the hero gave up nothing. Plus everything was swept under the rug so fast I barely had time to blink before it was over. I think I just felt repercussions should have happened for both of them, not just one.
Besides the third act conflict resolution, I think this is a really enjoyable second chance sports romance.
