Really enjoyed the inner monologues of Anakin describing how he cares so deeply about the fate of those in his life. The author added many instances of Anakin’s emotional attachments to his mother, Qui-Gon, and Padme. It makes his character arch in not being able to cope with loss even more impactful.

At first, I did worry that the prose would be a little too much for me. I feel like it’s a product of its time- the older books are a little more descriptive and sometimes focus more on sounding nice than offering plot. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find I sunk into this really fast and ending up finishing it quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was so nice to read a novelisation of such a well loved movie, to be able to see the inner thoughts and all the extra narratives we don’t see in the film. I honestly thought it was a really strongly written book, and I’m looking forward to the next one
