I really liked Bryony as a protagonist and while I think that the character of
T. Kingfisher's writing style translates beautifully into audiobooks in my opinion and the narrator did a great job in bringing it to life!

<Spoiler>The Beast remains at Beast at the end -- Bryony remains human. Honestly, I shouldn't have been surprised because there was technically plant porn alluded to but I think I just choose to ignore it. This was a cute story but I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about the bestiality of it all.</Spoiler>

This was a really cool retelling inspired by Robin McKinley's own excellent retelling (well, one of her retellings), Rose Daughter. It definitely stands by itself, though, with its banter and uh Horrors. It would not be Kingfisher without the Horrors, but boy they sure do ramp up quickly towards the end. bryony and roses is a retelling of beauty and the beast, but with added mystery, horror, and a house obsessed with pink.
