4 ★★★★☆
I have conflicted feelings about this book.
While I don't think earlier reviews were fair to it, the ending disappointed me so much I couldn't bring myself to give it more than 4 stars.
I loved the first 3/4th of this book. I loved the plot twists (some I was able to predict, others I couldn't, whichI don't know if it means I'm too stupid or that they were really unexpected ), I loved Avery's friend Max, I absolutely loved the characters' descriptions and arcs. I wasn't rooting for any ship, I liked averyjameson and averygrayson the same so I liked reading about all of them, and I was not disappointed by who Avery chose at the end.
I found the ending so underwhelming that I had to stop for a hot minute and wonder if I was reading the same book. I'm hugely disappointed by it, I was waiting for more from the long awaited conversation between Avery and Toby and I found the last plot twist disappointing as well.
Overall, I liked it and I would recommend it, but I hope the next book can fill in the gaps that this book left.

Not as fast paced as the first, but I definitely wasn’t bored!! A lot of family drama though. A LOT.

4.5 stars! A great sequel to the first. It gets a little convoluted at the end, and I think it gets away from the original spirit of the first one but I still loved it. Knives out and Clue vibes for sure still present
