An unconventional story without any plot, but rather a poetic meditation on life. A bit challenging when it comes to the writing however very rewarding and thought provoking.
a difficult read that i will be oh so happily rereading for the rest of my days. i understand why someone read this 111 times

did i choose to read this solely because my current favourite artist has a song with the exact same title? maybe. did i not have the faintest clue what she was on about most of the time? i will not confirm or deny the rumours. either way this was a very interesting and unique piece of work. i think it is probably the kind of work you need to read multiple times to truly get it so i will return to this at some point in time. i will also definitely read more by her as i'm curious to see how her writing style would work in books with more of a plot.

I really enjoyed and related to some of the passages, but others - I fear I am not smart enough to understand. This is a book you really have to be in the right mindset to read and be willing to take your time with each sentence. I'd be interested in trying to reread it at another time.

Agua Viva is a challenging read: it is prose-length poetry, and my logical brain has always struggled with poetry. I began to read poetry only a few years ago. Maybe, after some more practice, I can give this another go. Much of the language is extremely beautiful, and so I can see why so many people have fallen in love with Lispector's work. I think I fall short in my capacities to fully grasp and appreciate her.
