I definitely went in with high expectations and was kinda disappointed I don't know I really did like the story but don't get me wrong the art is beautiful.

A little disjointed but I like the characters, art, and concept. Worth reading Vol. 2

So I have been out of the comic loop for some time now and reading this left some background questions unanswered. The stories make sense on their own, but they are living in the aftermath of some Joker toxin release. It really tells you enough to get and understand the story, but leaves enough that you want to delve further into the backstory to see what happened before this.

I really like the characters, a group of teens just trying to make their home a little safer. The kids are from different walks of life and different ethnicities. Outside of the Robin group, they have little in common, but they are really learning to come together as a team, to celebrate their strengths and support each other. Outside of the costumes, I don't even think they know each other.

For the first time in a long time, I read a comic book and really wanted to read more of the series and the stories that surround it.

This was pretty good, it occurs after the events in [b:Batman, Vol. 7: Endgame|25135501|Batman, Vol. 7 Endgame|Scott Snyder|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1439426147s/25135501.jpg|44833032]. I'm interested in seeing how the rest of the volumes go.

This was an interesting concept, but it didn't work for me. It felt like the creators were trying to hard, and the characters felt more like stereotypes than fully fleshed out people. This might appeal to teenage boys, but I don't think it has a wide appeal and I don't think it's all that good.

Received from Edelweiss.

So fun! I love this diverse crew of scrappy Gotham teens (and the Batgirl cameo!!) I really like the trend of superhero comics using social media as part of their storytelling, and I think this does it really well. It also reminds me of what I like best about Ms. Marvel--just these teens determined to make a difference in their town <3

Would enthusiastically hand to all teen (and adult) Batman (and Batgirl) fans!

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

  • I like the concept of Gotham's youth latching on to the legacy of Robin.
  • Characters are good, diverse without feeling forced. Duke, my boy!
  • Does need a lot of wider comic context to make sense imo
