This was a good read despite the slow start. The last few chapters really started picking up the pace. I usually like to "predict" what's going to happen and I am always happy when the book takes on a different approach from what I think would happen.

Immediately started the 3rd book as soon as the audiobook came to a close.

At first I couldn't quite put my finger on what made me like this book but not love it. Then I realized it's Avery. While she grows as a character, I didn't enjoy reading about her as much as I enjoyed getting to know the other characters and their backstories. More specifically Jack and Stellan - who I both adore.

And while we did get to travel to new places, there was little to describe many of these locations. I felt like the characters could have been in any city/museum anywhere in the world. Though Venice and Kolkata where developed decently.

It was a fun and light read for the most part, and I'm interested to see where Maggie Hall takes the story next as the plot has taken a very different turn from the path that it was currently on.

And I hope that Avery doesn't flip flop between the boys too much during the next book - a weak point for far too many YA novels that could have been so much better without the useless "but who should I pick" "turmoil" for 3/4 of a series. I hope the focus is on what the characters need to do to save everyone and not the love triangle.

Hands down the best read of the 2016. I cannot imagine something or someone outdoing Stellan. That character is as close to my heart as Morpheus from the Splintered series and that says a lot.

I liked that Avery was a little bit tougher in this part. Finally she realised that this has everything to do with her and her decisions and that she has the power to decide for herself which was interesting to watch. She grew a lot from the start of the series but she is still herself.

The story was as gripping as in the first part, if not more and I was enjoying every damn minute of it. I still cannot understand how Maggie Hall can come up with so many clues and plot twists. I would got lost in my thoughts. Really, that is admirable.

All in all, I love this series too much. It surprises me how emotional I got while reading certain scenes and how much I wanted the next part. Let´s be honest, the ending was EPIC and it screamed for immediate sequel. I cannot wait to have this book in my bookshelf and brand it with my colourful stickers, post-it notes and my handwitten notes. Because that is what I do to books that had stolen a piece of my heart.

Book 2 was just as good. I'm moving on to book 3, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope for this one. I'm afraid it will be too fru-fru for me and not enough grit. But I'm invested now, and my masters program starts back tomorrow, so I'm forging on.

Lots more luxury world travel to drool over. The love triangle that you thought was non existent comes fully into play as they search for Napoleon's clues to find Alexander the Great's grave and the secret that's buried there. Who's friend and who's a foe?!

My entire family is disgusted that I read this in one day. But it's such a fast paced romp! I'm counting the days until the next book is released. Doubt my library will have it, though. And then I'll have to wait forever for the paperback. *sniff* *sob*

I am a really big fan of this series, y'all. I think it's extremely well done, full of twists and turns, intriguing relationships, and lots of fun adventure. It reminds me a lot of the National Treasure movies, which I love, because the characters are all on a quest to find a mythical tomb that holds a weapon that could destroy the world. And I am DOWN for that. I also really appreciated the emotional growth Avery experiences in this installment, and am crossing my fingers that the ending means what I hope it means as far as the relationships go. I'm definitely looking forward to the third and final book!

I enjoyed the last half of the book but the first half was a bit boring. It felt formulaic to me - go to a country, meet a family, search for a clue, go to a new country, meet a new family, search for a clue, over and over again. About a hundred pages of the same formula. Once the author stopped trying so hard to fit in visits to new countries, it allowed the plot to develop and the story became much more interesting and exciting.
