I got through this via an audio book and I had a really fun time! The different voice actors for the different journals was a very fun way to split everything up. I found the story exciting and as far as vampires go, it filled my fanged mottled heart with glee to finally read the book that started it all as far as the romanticism of vampires is concerned.

The idea of Dracula Daily is a lot of fun. Receiving the diary entries or letters each in story day was a very immersive and digestible way to read this story.
I didn’t enjoy the story. Perhaps the intrigue back in the day of not knowing who Dracula was, nor his abilities was enough to scare readers. These days, we know exactly what he is, and therefore I was expected to rely simply on his actions. What did he do that was engaging and scary? Practically nothing.
A majority of this book is long winded explanations of the environment. HOW MANY PARAGRAPHS ARE NEEDED TO EXPLAIN THE WEATHER.
I can’t tell if the book is bad or I just read it in the wrong era.

This story has everything from romance to horror to psychological suspence. The way it is written in the form of letters, with multiple POV's, makes me think this story was published weekly in newspapers or as pamphlets like they used to do, before publishing the story as a whole in a book.
I would have loved to given this 5 stars, but sadly, even as it is written very accessible for it's time, keeps the suspense throughout every page, it still has some casual sexism. And that always warrents point reduction. Even if the characters being strong women.

I have read an illustrated Romanian translation.
I can't say I am a big patriot, but when someone turns one of our most beloved historical figure into a vampire... well at least if he would have done a better job at it.
It did not aged too well this much beloved clasic.
