I thought this would just be a cute little romance book to get me out of a slump but it turned out to be a really heart warming story with a blind protagonist. Loved being able to experience the narrative through her and I think the author did a good job with giving agency to disabled characters. I think the supporting cast were fun though I must say this is the only book I’ve read in the series so callbacks and cameos will have gone over my head. The only downside was of course the writing, with some clunky and awkward word choice (cowardliness instead of cowardice?) and some expressions that take you out of the setting (such as using the modern American meaning of the word ‘mad’). The plot also wrapped up way too quickly and conveniently but that’s somewhat par for the course in the genre. At the end of the day readers are here for the relationships and I think that this one was masterfully done. Would recommend as a quick romance read.

I expected more from this book. It was up and down as far as the action went. I'm mostly disturbed by my first run-in by the word "clitty" for clitoris.

I love this series.

Meh. Not for me.

5 roguish stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

All I will say is that James Trevillion can guard me any day! A historical bodyguard romance with a disabled heroine (blind) and the hero has a limp from a previous accident. Throw in a trip to Cornwall and a swoony romance with all the tropes we love (close proximity, one bed, and grumpy/sunshine couple). This book was just perfection from beginning to end! ❤️

What a stellar credit to the genre.

It was so fun to experience feisty, independent Lady Phoebe riling up Captain Trevillion, who was devoted from the start.

Their love story was sweet and full of emotion and adventure.

I love it so much, as a devoted Kindle girlie, I even bought a physical copy.
