Beautiful and Touching Story!
Wow where to even begin! I loved this book! It was way more than I expected, so much emotion and heat! Julian is a conundrum, I loved him and hated him at times. Bree was the heart of this story. She is exactly what this family needed and so much more! She is their Light. Willow stole my heart and Sammy was a sweetheart. This book was well written, I got lost in the story, everything flowed beautifully. I feel like the end came together all at once but I know that’s me being selfish and wanting more of these wonderful characters. This author was new to me and reading this book makes me want to devour everything else she has written!

both of them are pathetic. this started off really good and the last 20% of it ruined the entire thing. “youre not gay youre confused” like what. but then he claims that he doesnt care if she is gay but that she is “too young” and that those are “adult labels” like ……… in real life they never ever ever would’ve stayed together
Ok this is going to have spoilers because I don’t know how to rant (and this will be mostly a rant) without mentioning some specifics.
I wanted to like this. There were a lot of parts I did. But I gotta say I could’ve done without Julian entirely. Seriously, he is a giant, two-faced pile of trash. I have no sympathy for him, he is a cold and emotionless coward. And sex addict which I guess would generally work for a book like this but wow, hated him with my whole being. He is deeply troubled and no it is not sexy, it’s just a downer. I also couldn’t follow his train of thought - one minute he is telling Bree to prioritize the kids, and then right after he is upset with her for putting them before him. It was a whole lot of this - this then that then back to this then back to that - it made my head hurt.
Brielle - I liked her…ish. She flip flopped so much in her interactions with Julian that I felt the whiplash, but I absolutely adored her relationship with the kids. I would like a book of just that. I’m not kidding, just yeet Julian into the sun please, and let’s see what life is like for her, Willow, and Sammy. But Brielle with Julian…in the words of Pete Holmes: “BARFCITY.ORG, I’m logging on!”
Willow - I LOVED HER. I went through the gamut of emotions, what a great character and I felt so much for her and all of the struggles she went through as a teen trying to find herself while also essentially grieving the loss of both her parents, since dad Julian is WORTHLESS (I feel like I can’t stress my dislike of him enough).
The writing was not the best, so much repetition - “the air buzzed with electricity”, “open flesh” (talking about a vagina, made me nauseous) - it got very distracting.
There were some things thrown in that were absolutely unnecessary. Did you know Brielle was an engineer? Did you know that it has absolutely nothing to do with this story at all and is mentioned twice and never elaborated? Do you know what the point of that was? I certainly don’t. Oh wait, it’s to try and distract us from the fact that Brielle is naive as all hell.
I was going to give this another star solely because of the storyline focused on Brielle and the kids, and then the last 15% of the book happened and it was utter trash. Julian almost sleeps with someone else like immediately after they break up, then we blink and he is proposing to Brielle and saying he didn’t sleep with anyone while they were apart (ok but I’m still calling you a shady POS and he never comes clean about that) and then they get married and there’s several jumps forward in an epilogue to show them married and growing their family. I had to scan back to make sure I didn’t miss anything because it was so sudden and rushed. I don’t think this ending was at all planned out, it felt like it was just thrown together to finally end this and put me out of my misery. So my final rating is two stars - mostly for Willow because I just want that girl to have the world, she deserves it. Julian alone? Negative thirty stars. Negative eighty stars.

This is a book club read but also a re-read for me. I enjoyed Julian's character most over the nanny. I especially liked on how they would address each other would be indicative of the their moods or environments. Julian's quips were laughable. There was more depth to the book due to the daughter's angst towards her father and discovering her sexuality. I think if the book didn't have this aspect, it would have fallen flat. I can't remember if I've read more of the series. I went to read Mr. Spencer, but it didn't sound familiar nor am I jumping to start it. I think I've leave this series for now. I've read other TL Swan's and if I remember correctly, the Italian series overlaps at some point. The interactions between the friends especially when the one tells them his story of having a threesome, then being given a blue pill, and proceeds to have sex all night, was hilarious! Honestly, one of my favorite parts. Epilogue's are one of those things that I look forward to in books. Not all authors do them, but TL Swan's epilogue for this book was fantastic as it went forward several years and gave you updates on all of the characters (excluding the friends, obviously because they have their own books).

This was a fun, steamy read. I enjoyed the development of their relationship and watching Brielle be with the kids. I loved her relationship with Willow and how that progressed. I thought Julian was a little toxic for too long, but I understand, for plot purposes, why that was. Overall, a good read!

What a refreshing read from TL Swan. Not only was this book hot, but I have really fallen for the single dad trope. The sex in this book was off the charts hot
