Hallie is bartending at a wedding when she runs into Jack who she actually met that morning when he was buying an engagement ring for his girlfriend. But then, they break up and Hallie and Jack become besties. They decide to make a bet on who gets a serious relationship through this dating app first, however then chemistry exists between the two of them.

The plot of this book was very basic. It included fake dating, a one-bed trope, and all that. But it was a very fun, quick read, so basically, everything that you can expect from a Lynn Painter book! I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed and I would have totally read this book in one sitting if I would not have been so tired. I did get annoyed at a certain point because the chemistry between Hallie and Jack was so obvious and they both felt the same way about each other, so why not just date for real. But then I also understand that it is the trope of the book.

3.5 rounded up bc this was cute and i liked jack a lot, don’t have much more to say lol

Fuck ass book pmo

you guys know the drill. lynn painter could write a book about carrots and id read it. she is the GOAT. this book was sexy, (better than the first one in this ‘series’) and i loved the friendship between jack and hal. i love it when the guy falls first and this book just simply slayed ❤️‍

everyone in this book is annoying.

This one had me kicking my feet a few times. Lynn Painter really knows how to write tension and banter. I loved the dynamic between the main characters and how playful yet emotional their connection was. Not a five-star favorite, but still such a good time.

i've read everything lynn painter has written and this one made me wonder why. lol. good banter, unnecessarily complicated plot. i fear painter thrives in YA, not berkeley romance.
