Note: I received an advanced copy, and agreed to provide an honest review.

In their second book, Sarah and Beth show up - like they promise to do in their podcast - as authentically themselves. They share personal stories to help frame each chapter, and it’s clear that their work over the last 5 years has really helped them hone the skill of self-reflection and growth. I love the flow of this book from intimate and family relationships through to the global community, and how each growing circle can still feel so personal. Each chapter has pauses inserted for the reader to reflect and to tie the substance to their own lives, and ends with recommendations for pushing the conversation further. I found myself highlighting whole pages and sending quotes off to friends and family. I will definitely be giving this book as a gift, and likely referencing it ad nauseam once more people have read it.

My copy from the library was ALMOST a DNF before I gave it a try on audio. Phew, so glad I did! Their style and perspectives work better in that format - the variety of fonts and asides was rough in the print.

A few good new ideas here TO ME but I can’t compare to their podcasts bc I do not listen. However, I really loved their emphasis on local governments, not being a “consumer” who leaves bad yelp reviews on schools and churches, and ideas for how to talk to your kids.

Still don’t have a lot of ideas for how to vote for family members who voted for Trump.

Beth and Sarah are amazing. So thoughtful, so smart, and really want to help us moving forward. I respect them tremendously. I want my entire family to read this and discuss it like a book club.

Beth and Sarah bring their signature grace and nuance to this thoughtful and thought-provoking book. With personal anecdotes and collective insights, Sarah and Beth deliver the wisdom and connections they forge weekly on their podcast, Pantsuit Politics. This book gives room for personal reflection and growth by guiding readers through stories and carefully curated questions.

If you’ve listened to the Pantsuit Politics podcast for a while, you’ll hear a lot of the same things in this book. I appreciated that the book went a bit deeper and challenged the reader more. I did feel encouraged by the end of the book.

I cannot emphasize enough how meaningful this book is in my life right now. Finding a place in a world full of conflict and figuring out how to make or maintain real connections in the midst of it has been very challenging. The viewpoints Beth and Sarah share are not just "do this, don't do that," but are more focused on helping you change your perspectives toward the world. As a longtime fan of Pantsuit Politics, this book really represents the next step in applying their approach to every aspect of your life.

This was good, and the audio felt like an extra long podcast with these two, who I love. There’s a lot about building empathy for others, asking thoughtful questions when disagreements arise, and talking to kids about hard things happening in the world. Definitely worth the read!

I usually hate reflection/discussion questions in books. They don’t often match the questions I’m asking myself, and thus feel more annoying than helpful. But Sarah and Beth have put together a book so full of valuable questions and reflections that I’m forced to reconsider my opinion. I think I love my fellow humans better because of this book.
