This was my favorite Stephanie Plum so far. I feel like Evanovich really hit her stride in this one, and it's just non-stop action, which leads to non-stop reading, which makes for a very satisfied me. :)
Connie doesn’t have much for Stephanie in this one, just a case that isn’t worth much, but her family needs her help with a missing-persons case.
Uncle Fred’s missing, his wife is having a blast spending lots of money. There’s also a bookie following her around.
Benito Ramirez is out on parole and harassing Stephanie.
Morello tells Stephanie he loves her.
This one was okay, really short. About a 1-2 hour read, max.
3 stars.
Audio:
This narrator is okay. The Jersey accent works and her voice works for many secondary characters—I don’t love her for Stephanie.
Overall:
Very poor quality, production-wise. It cut out several times and there were bouts of dead air.

So the plots are silly and basically the same book after book, but I love them. I laugh out loud. I am attached to these silly characters.

I listened to this one many years ago (probably around 2009, 2010?), and later discovered that my library’s entire collection of Evanovich’s audio CD’s were abridged… seriously, why even bother making abridged books!
I’m working my way through the whole series again, but multiple titles they still only have the abridged version, which now means only being able to read the ebook - and waiting months between because they are super popular.
The story is just as good as I remember, but they had really cut out a ton (like two thirds) when they abridged it. Seriously, why would you ever abridge anything!! Worst decision ever.

Generally I can figure out where these books are going and who is the bad guy. I have to admit that this one had me fooled. I didn't expect it to go the direction it did. I also have to give Evanovich credit for character development for the character of Benito Ramirez. Every time he appeared in this story, he creeped me out! It's rare for me to have such a strong negative reaction to a character. As always Stephanie Plum has more problems than she can handle in this series: her Uncle Fred has disappeared and the family wants her to find him, there aren't any FTAs for her to go after other than Randy Briggs, a tempermental little person who doesn't want to go with her, she doesn't have money for her rent, and she doesn't really know what to do with the feelings she has for Joe or Ranger. The adventure is enjoyable and I love that Ranger is starting to play a bigger role in this series. I like him.
I enjoyed this Stephanie Plum book more than the 4th one! The misadventures that Stephanie gets herself into are always outrageous and unbelievable, but they sure are entertaining. All of the side characters in this one are funny and and help add to the story. Oh Stephanie, what are you going to do next?
Probably the 5th time I’ve read this book.. truly one of the funniest series of all time.
I really enjoyed this instalment in the Stephanie Plum series.
I'm not sure how I feel about the love triangle really coming to the fore in this story as I 100% (at this stage) ship Stephanie with Morelli and that cliffhanger at the end of the book just about killed me.
While I did really enjoy this story, I do feel like sometimes it seems like a bit of a competition between the side characters as to to who can be the craziest character.
Nevertheless, I am still enjoying reading this series so I'll definitely be continuing on.
