What Remains is a typical run of the mill thriller for me. It was enjoyable and I liked it, but just not enough and it won't be very memorable. I've already forgotten a bit of it. While listening, it did keep me engaged and interested, but I just feel very meh about it. Maybe I wasn't in the mood, I'm not sure, but it won't be topping any favourites lists.

What Remains is a thriller that will pull you right in. I started it planning to just listen to a few minutes while folding some laundry and then had to listen to the entire thing in one sitting.

Elise is a cold case detective who stops in a store to pick up towels for her daughters when she hears shots ring out in the store. As customers are running out, she’s headed to find the shooter.

I really enjoyed seeing how everything came together. The narration was also excellent and just pulled me right in. Thank you to Blackstone Publishing and Libro.fm for the free audiobook.

I got this one in my first Once Upon a Book club box. I was so excited because the book is beautiful and especially since I had little goodies to open while reading. The beginning started of really strong! I was hooked and couldn't wait to keep going, and then that changed. I feel like things went too slow and I just didn't care as much anymore. I ended up DNFing.

Thank you #NetGalley and #BlackstonePublishing for an arc of #WhatRemains in exchange for an honest review.

I read Don’t Look for Me by Walker last year and enjoyed it, so I knew I wanted to read her next novel. What Remains kept me engaged and I’m grateful to have been shared a copy to review.

This novel was told in dual timelines, yet it was easy to keep track of what was transpiring in both. Walker’s approach was skillfully thought through and I felt it all tied together well. Her character development was perfect and contributed to the stage Walker was creating.

For some reason, I had a hard time getting going with this one. I don't have a good reason for it, just tough to get into at first. But then, once I got about a quarter of the way into it, I finished the rest in one day. I think the first couple "Kill Room" chapters just kind of threw me off kilter. I had it mostly figured out, but still enjoyed the author's reveals.
