I loved the movie and read the book in preparation for Tracy Flick Can’t Win.

I flew through this, and I loved the darkly comedic takes on a high school election.

Even though I have seen the movie many times, I was surprised by how much I still enjoyed reading the novel; I didn't know what to expect out of the book but I was pleasantly surprised by the writing.
The characters are entertaining; they are all interesting and hold different perspectives. The flow of the book is consistent and the story is amusing and realistic.
I may just have to give some other Perrotta novels a try after this.

A bunch of people sleep with a bunch of other people, and also there's a high school election going on. If this is what adult literary fiction is like, I can't say I'm particularly impressed.

Not my favourite Perrotta novel so far but it made me want to read more by him asap.

I prefer the movie.

Against the tide of everyone else, I didn't love this book. It seemed unnecessarily salacious for no real reason other than to add appeal to a YA audience?

It was short, so I finished it, but there was nothing to make me love or loathe the characters or the plot. It was the ultimate in 90s ambivalence.
