Really fun but I wish there was more conclusion surrounding several subplots.

Dear Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts,
You were so much more fun then I was anticipating! You brought me back to my childhood, the first time I dove into The Westing Game. I loved the scavenger hunt, and twists and turns of the whole mystery, but my favorite part was that Tuesday was such an unusual, awkward hero. I was at a slight disadvantage during the action parts, because I struggled to keep track of a of the characters, especially when the 13 meet up, but I really enjoyed listening to you!

I said to someone while I was reading this that I thought the book had gotten away from the author at times and I really stand by that. There was too much here I think or at least so much that it needed a stronger hand to wrangle. There are really serious issues brought up and then skirted around in a way that doesn’t do them justice. But, I really wanted to keep reading and I really enjoyed Vincent so high marks.
Excellent fun! Kind of like Ready Player One without the futuristic dystopian setting (it's set in present day Boston, MA). I did feel that there was at least one loose end that wasn't tied up (specifically, what, exactly, happened to her friend Abby?) but all in all it was a satisfying read.
I loved it! Everything I wanted right now. The pace, the characters, the plot, the writing style, the tone, just perfectly balanced. I’m a hooked reader of Kate Racculia after this and Bellweather Rhapsody. Excellent.

I loved the premise of the book, and I was looking forward to going through the game with the main character. I felt the book didn't quite deliver on this promise; the game, while shaping the narrative, actually takes a back seat for much of the novel to the character development. We also follow multiple characters, not just Tuesday.
That isn't to say I didn't enjoy the book - I very much did. There was a lot to love. I enjoyed the author's style, and the characters seemed realistic - likeable, but flawed. I enjoyed the access to Tuesday's inner world, particularly the development of what happened in her past. There were many lovely touches in the author's explorations of the characters' relationships.
However, the book I got wasn't quite the book I signed up for! After a promising start involving a bit of action and puzzle solving, the long middle of the book doesn't include much of this. The puzzles and clues we do get aren't given in a style that we feel we can solve and puzzle along with the characters. There is nothing wrong with this, but personally I had hoped to get into some interesting problem solving along the way.
Also, it was a bit frustrating that what initially appeared to be one of the original mysteries of the book was never given any resolution.
All in all, I enjoyed this book, particularly the lovely writing. However, it didn't quite do what it said on the tin!
