I don't know if this book, "Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts" is for everyone...but, it is certainly for me.
I heard of it from a brief review from an author that I admire -- Ursula Vernon (aka T. Kingfisher). Seeing as I will read anything of Vernon's that I can get my hands on, a recommendation from her holds some credibility-weight for me.
She was not wrong. This book is fun (the word here not just being used as a quick review to move on, but thoughtfully applied). Kate Racculia's work is an amalgamation of story components that meld together into a fun adventure. Quirky characters that I wish I knew in real life? Check. Wealthy eccentrics that put together post-death scavenger-hunt-type games? Check. Haunted pasts? Check. Mysterious histories? Check. True admirable love? Check. Theater-nerds, book-nerds, music-nerds, costuming-nerds, and more? Check. Struggling to figure out how to be true to oneself, to find one's purpose, to be willing to change and evolve? Check. Having to redefine oneself? Check. Solid friendships? Check. Enduring grief and still be willing to live? Check.
I suppose it may not be classified as snooty high-brow literary fiction...and who cares? It's fun. It's engaging. It's silly. It's earnest. I truly enjoyed it.
[The only negative that I can clearly state? I wish that the mystery, the codes, the clues and all could have been written in a way that the reader could've tried to put together the puzzles instead of being told when a character found out a secret. It would've just added slightly bit more to have that interactive element.]

Book club read. Not a fan of the "quirky-name-does-a-thing" title but I'm blaming the publisher for following a trend on that one. The author does a remarkable job evoking a sense of place and authentic Boston gothic atmosphere. Love a nontraditional FMC (tall, over 30, goth 4ever) and an eccentric billionaire. A few too many side characters and whiplash in the second half. Not something I would've otherwise read but not bad!

The titles pretty inaccurate, and it definitely fumbles the ending but overall it was a light little adventure
