It starts with a pretty terrible person complaining about how old people smell. Then she arrives at the book club where there’s a tone of other people and it’s too many all at once that I don’t know who’s who (and I don’t care). One of the women work at an old folks home and she hates old people and treats them poorly. One woman works at a bookmaker and dislikes gambling and gamblers. One woman really doesn’t want to get involved helping a teenager who has just lost his mother. And it goes on and on and everyone is just dreadful. We get to follow… um, maybe 5 people from the book club and 2 police officers, maybe. It’s a mess and I wouldn’t recommend this.

Absolute hated this one. Did not like any of the characters and the mystery was boring.

3.5⭐️= Quite Good.
Paperback.

This was an easy to read book. In the first half of the, the characters were not particularly inspiring and I wasn’t particularly engaged with the storyline. After this, the characters developed and I could see many potential suspects. Saying this, I did not guess the murderer!

This might be for you if you want an easy to read book , written in a whodunnit style.

I never leave one star reviews. I only read this because my work book club is reading it. Zero character development. No suspense. Not one likeable character. It was a quick read so I'm happy I didn't waste too much time reading it. If it weren't for book club it would be my first DNF in a very long time.
