This was an incredibly weird experience that should have resulted in a DNF, but I was so weirded out I had to see what the actual hell this woman wrote down and published.  I am haunted by the descriptions of food, not in a good way.

What just happened? It starts as a fairly solid creepy girl 4 star story. Then…the author took acid? I mean I like weird, I really like weird, but it becomes so unbelievably bizarre it lost even me. I realize this makes it sound intriguing, but trust me it’s not.

I was going along just fine with this book...and then it just wouldn't get to the point and then it just wouldn't end. Like...we got the big "reveal" at about the 66% mark...then at the 75% mark it just goes completely crazy...which I was actually ok with. It's just that by the time we got to the crazy...I was already sorta checked out. Tighten this book up (a lot) and you could have an amazing story. As is...balanced out to just ok for me.

So this book took me over two years to read because I kept dropping it out due to a lack of interest on my part. And now that it is done, I should have left it behind in 2019. This was just not my cup of tea. Too many factors, too many unbelievably rare situations and secret communications that are life or death that taunted each other? Just why? Once the big twist came out I regretted pushing though.

The writing isn't bad, this just isn't a thriller I would recommend due to my preferences.

This was a page turner, but the plot went from a bit much to outright silly.
Parts had legit tension, but as something got interesting it wrapped up over-quick and swerved into another storyline. It was like two distinct books got smashed into each other, and it would have been better if one of them was cut. The characters had no life, they were just collections of attributes that would help them out as the plot needed.
Can’t recommend as a good book, but it was an excellent time-passer. Easy to pick up and put down, so a beach/waiting room/lunch break type thing.

It was… okay. It opened with supernatural potential, but it lacked anything mystical. The end was moderately heart warming, but not what I was hoping for. All of the answers were just odd. Not odd like “juice boxes and bacon,” but odd as in poor plot structure.

This book is wild! A mother and her teen daughter, Lucy, are on the run, moving from state to state with Lucy not knowing why. Now, they’ve settled in a new place where Lucy meets Gretchen, the landlord’s daughter. Gretchen is obsessed with jigsaw puzzles and pulls Lucy into her strange world.

I really liked Lucy, she’s naive but has streaks of rebellion and just wants to figure out what’s going on in her weird life. We also get Mother’s POV where we slowly learn the real situation. There are some creepy moments with Gretchen - the scene where Lucy visits her house is a highlight!

I enjoyed the twists and turns but towards the end it got too ridiculous for me. The book tries to merge the storylines of Lucy and Gretchen with Mother and her past, and I didn’t think it succeeded. There are coincidences and characters behaving like they’re in an action movie. But it’s still an entertaining read and makes me think of jigsaw puzzles in a different light! If you’re looking for a thriller with surprises and compelling female characters, I’d recommend this.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
