I had heard nothing but good things about this book and spent all of yesterday that I could seeped in it.
The characters in this story are so varied and so deep, even the side characters. I felt really invested in each story and the world of their bubble of Brooklyn. August, the POV FL, was relatable without being a Mary Sue. She had flaws that stemmed from understandabl  trauma that was explored throughout the story. I also appreciated that in a book about two women falling in love she wasn't just discovering that she likes women. Yes she was inexperienced, but that is completely different. She knew her sexuality and herself in regards to what she wanted. Jane was fascinating. I don't want to go into too much detail about her because she's so crucial to the plot. But their relationship was wholesome and believable and I rooted for them.
The sci-fi aspect to this book was fun and interesting. I was able to auspend disbelief about this actually happening and just invest myself in the story. It is a bit long but I never felt the pacing dip which is highly impressive.
I'm torn on the ending and not in my traditional way. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but there's also this sadness that Biyu has to live out her time in the future. I'm glad the author mentions her family at the end but I wanted to see her reunite with them! I know it's good writing to not to do that but uch. I just want her to be happy.

I think this could make a fantastic film or miniseries.
like if it was they could show pictures of the reunion throw the credits and then I'd sob and die

This book felt like a giant hug. I don't think Casey McQuiston has ever written a book that has protagonists and side characters I haven't loved. I felt so strongly connected to Jane and August and all the members of their beautiful queer found family.
I was a little nervous to pick this up because I love Red, White & Royal Blue so much and because I was a little scared to see how McQuiston tackled a more sci-fi heavy plot. However, this did nothing but exceed my expectations. The sci-fi elements made this book super engaging to me, and I loved trying to solve the mystery of Jane before the characters did.
I battled through a reading slump while working through this, and I think it's a testament to the quality of this book that I enjoyed every bit of it even when I struggled to pick up any sort of text. My enjoyment of this wasn't hindered by my brain being annoying.
The romance McQuiston wrote was, as always, absolutely swoon-worthy. I was so invested in whether or not Jane and August would get together and stay together that the things that I was worried about (namely: subway sex) weren't as strange as I thought that would be. My little asexual heart was not made uncomfortable by the sexy scenes :)
This is, though, a more adult book than RWRB is. The sex scenes are more explicit and don't just fade to black. Not a problem for me, but something worth noting for anyone considering picking this up.
I do think that it is important to mention that there is a line in this that has been slightly controversial in which August tells Jane that racism isn't as bad now as it was in the 70s. Some reviewers of color have brought up that this is a inaccurate and insensitive statement to make, and while I agree, I do think that the context of the scene has a lot to do with why it is said. Jane is freaking out, and August is trying to calm her down, so she says that times have changed and Jane could be herself in the present. I don't think that August was right (she's definitely very naïve and speaks from a position of incredible privilege), but I do understand why she said what she did. As a reviewer of color myself I don't have a problem with the line, but I understand why so many of my peers do, and it's not my place to judge them for that or say that they're wrong.

One Last Stop is a simple sci-fi romance stuffed with quirky characters with small supernatural elements.

Good and interesting characters that don't bore because they're new (even thought they follow character tropes, they aren’t underwhelming). I’m rooting for all of them and I like their dynamics a lot. They’re a found family.

I found the main couple a bit boring unfortunately. They seemed to be the only characters I hoped more from. I guess it was hard for me to understand their struggles.

The story involves queerness past just the romance. It discusses queer history and shows it through the perspective of a character that has lived through some of the worst of it. It gets emotional and heavy.

I’m not a huge fan of the writing in this book. Millennial new adult book humour and dialogue is not my personal favourite. Some of the romantic sap got a bit too repetitive, corny, and just overall didn’t work for me. Some, however, did. It’s a mixed bag. The descriptions are vivid, engaging the senses. It’s the dialogue that didn’t work for me.

This book is nsfw and has some graphic sex scenes. I was not expecting this especially having reading Red, White and Royal Blue which was was not nearly as explicit. However, props to Casey. That is how the lesbians are doing it.

I was expecting a different ending. But it’s not a terrible ending.
Exactly what you’d expect from a romance. Gays deserve happy endings!! Jane and August got theirs. Either way, I was waiting for it to end.

August's roommates were my favorite part, i love the found family trope, which made me a little disappointed with their brief plot line resolutions, but other than that i enjoyed the plot and was satisfied with the ending. i appreciated the writing, it's improved from their debut Red, White & Royal Blue. i was extremely uncomfortable during the public sex scene 😬. 4⅜ stars
cover design review: ★★☆☆☆. yikes, it's just overwhelming. let's count the different typefaces: author name (1), bestselling author (2), title (3), "a novel" (4), Q line symbol (5), and tagline (6). all the different colors, three shades of purplish pink that don't go well together, the "S" is higher than the "TOP" in "STOP", Jane's posture looks stiff and unnatural, just very disappointing. the Spanish edition is gorgeous 😭 and the Portuguese edition is good too, love the art style and the easter eggs from the story but i think the character design is somewhat juvenile

Tldr: I love these characters, I want to be their friends, and this clean 2020 version of New York sounds fun.

OMG. THIS BOOK. WOW.

Firstly, the genre.
I mean, sci-fi with romance?!? How can that possible be written?? But damnnn.
I've said it a hundred times before, and I'll say it a hundred times more, Casey McQuiston is a miracle worker.
This book is pure magic.
From the story, to the humor, to the gay culture, to the personification of New York, everything was beautiful. Just amazing.

Secondly, the characters!
They are all so awesome.
August is my baby and I love her so freaking much. I wish I could meet her and just hug her for a few days.
Jane is hot. I find her ridiculously hot. I think it's because of the tattoos and the leather jacket but her personality and humour are pretty freaking hot too.
Niko. His character is so well written. And I love everything that comes out of his month and he has started to get me to believe in psychics now.
Myla is such a mood. She is the perfect person I've ever known and I cannot imagine this book being this good without her.
Wes. Truth be told, I thought he'd just be grumpy all the time and didn't like him, but OMG!! He is such a sweetheart and I'd literally lie down on the metro rails for him.
Isaiah/Annie. I wanna be a drag queen now. I've never actually been to drag shows before, but I'd love to go to one someday and see all the fabulous queens, like Annie, on the stage.

Third, the setting and location.
Okay, so, I've wanted to go to New York for a really long time. It's the perfect city according to me. It might be crowded and might smell like piss all the time, but I wanna live there someday. And I got to see how my life would look like through this book. And it's wonderful.
I love pancakes and Billy's sounds incredible. If I was a part of this world, I'd probably sell everything I own to save that place.
Lastly, the metro. The Q.
I'd love to ride it someday and maybe find a new friend while I am there.

AND THE FOUND FAMILY TROPE!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THOSE AND THIS WAS SO WHOLESOME AND BEAUTIFUL!

If you've got till here, please just read the book. It's magical and wonderful and will probably break your heart but it will also sew it right back on.
