Did not like Emma for most of the book. Justin was a strong character and I liked his banter, sweetness and affection towards Emma. Learning what Emma went through with her mom was a lot, and I did have empathy for her.
What happened to her was disheartening and I was angry on her behalf when she went to confront her mom about the lies.
She definitely handled that situation with more grace than I would have.

I gave this book five stars not because it’s perfect but because I have never read a book and felt so understood. Emma's relationship with her mom and her having to process was like being able to have a conversation with someone who could truly understand where I was coming from and my experience with my own mother.

Though I would have never expected it, this book made me reflect on forgiveness and what I need to get there.

It was fast paced and heartfelt. Even the things I found slightly corny
like how Jimenez worded Emma's trigger response as 'getting small'
all made sense in the end. It felt like everything in this book had purpose
and I liked that it all came together in the end. A happy ending every now and then is good for the soul.

If you haven't read Just for the Summer yet, you should.

I hope this is the last book in Part of Your World because each book seems to get more and more heart wrenching (and amazing), I don’t know if I could handle one that was more deep than this one. Emma has a traumatic past and Justin has a traumatic present and they line up in a way that makes them perfect for each other…just maybe not right now. Highly recommend this book, but you will PROBABY cry.

Actually rating it higher because I didn’t have to gag through heterosmut. The exploration of emotional baggage, PTSD, abandonment, abuse, familial deaths, untreated mental illness, fear of commitment, broken families, foster and found family is done so well - and a lot better than most fiction I’ve read. I might know what hobbies they like or what they do in their free time per se, but I felt more connected to the MCs in a way more authors fail to achieve.

I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want to put it down. I loved the characters and that I thought I knew what twists were coming and was continually surprised. I have so much affection for the main characters and appreciated that the author let the characters struggle and the representation a woman with
CTPSD and avoidant attachment, as we often see these portrayed as a rushed part of a man’s story arcs in romcoms
. I wish there was more exploration of what Justin was working through and felt that it wrapped up a little too quickly, giving it a medium/fast/medium/fast pace throughout the plot.
