3.8 stars I thought the epilogue was cute and on theme, but I found it a little implausible how much of a saint Maddy is
— I mean, she seems to have built her whole life structure around Emma's trauma and needs
, which is great as far as best friends go but seemed unreasonable, especially for Maddy's sake. This was still an enjoyable read and plot/story arc. I appreciated that we got a bit of
a redemption arc for
Neil and a definite connect back to the first book. I felt like the *in between* time for Emma
when she had left
felt realistic/not overly dramatized
I mean, realistically, Justin had responsibilities and couldn't really afford to fall into a dramatic slump for 6 months with 3 kids to take care of, but I'm surprised he didn't lash out when she'd gone for 6 months to return hoping to pick things back up — of course it's more complicated, but still, I expect less of men

You think you’re reading a cute little romance novel next thing you know, you’re relating to these characters about love and fear of love. Abby Jimenez did an excellent job creating characters that you would fall in love with.

I genuinely loved how
Emma accepted her flaws in the end and knew she needed time to herself before getting into a relationship.
I also loved how you fell in love with Justin and his siblings.

The premise of the novel can be a little unbelievable and the spicy scenes were weak in my opinion. there were some lines said by Justin that were unrealistic but there are some said by him that makes him the guy everyone loves

This is the first book by Abby Jiminez that I've read. She is a great writer and a delightful story teller. I'm not a die hard romance reader, but I do love a good rom-com movie, so this was a nice entry into that genre. I liked that the characters had lives that impacted their relationships. Conversations between characters weren't only about the love interest but about their own situation. And there were very solid conversations and experiences around mental health issues. I really appreciated that the timing of the story was realistic. The entire book takes place over just under a year. They didn't fall in love over a weekend and then the story ends at the kiss. Their relation ship grows as they get to know each other and expeirence lives, and then we find out what happens after the kiss. Solid read.
