I almost NEVER give a 5⭐ review but gosh dang if the plot twists weren't 🔥 in this! I kept getting sucked into the story and then there Abby goes dropping a bomb of a plot twist I wasn't expecting OR an Easter egg tied to other books (and sometimes both). I even laughed so loud my kids demanded to know why I was gasping for air. Full disclosure this one was especially sad in its own way and my heart broke for the main character, but maybe because her plot felt familiar to the true lived experience of people I know and love. As always, the author handled the heartbreak with grace. Time to wait for her other books, the newest in this series and the 3 in her other series, to become available from my small town library!

This is the second book of Abby’s that I’ve read. She is a very funny writer and creates awesome character banter. The leading man, Justin, is incredibly lovable whereas the leading woman, Emma, has many flaws. At times it made her hard to like but there’s a lot of character growth and a twist towards the end that I definitely hadn’t predicted. Her friend Maddy is also sometimes unlikable but overall a good friend and necessary character.

A very fast-paced book about love, healing, and friendship.
  • Tear-jerking in the best possible way.
  • Closed-door bedroom scenes.
  • Apparently it contains characters from previous books which I have not read.
Zippy writing, making it easy to devour this book in a few hours. The characters have some real unresolved issues that keep them from getting together, and the issues are managed in an adult, realistic way.
