Reading about prehistoric life always gets me nostalgic... and a little bit sad. It´s a bittersweet feeling. But I keep coming back to it.

Extremely thorough yet still approachable, not solely focused on the dinosaurs (which I appreciate a lot).

Prehistoric life is so incredibly fascinating no matter how old you are! I LOVED dinosaurs as a child and I wish this book would have been around then! Perfect for middle-grade readers, the author does a superb job of breaking-down different eras and explaining how life evolved. The photographs are fantastic and the illustrations unique. There are even some recently discovered dinosaurs that I fell in love with! There is a bit of repetition that I found a little distracting (and brontosaurus was sadly absent!?!) but overall this book would make a great gift for a young explorer or a great treat for yourself! Highly recommended!

This is the best dinosaur/prehistory book I have ever read. It didn't just talk about prehistoric animals but also prehistoric plants which most books tend to overlook. Not only was it informative and easy reading, it was visually amazing. The illustrations and pictures were utilised so well to give each page an impact, and I love that every page had it's own unique design too. The hardcover design and the gold-lined pages make it stand out as well. I can't wait to read more books from this series!

I love this book! I got this book as a Christmas gift and it made my day. I love how accurate it is too! Dinosaurs have been the subject of many intentionally inaccurate interpretations (I'm talking about you Steven Spielberg), so to see the little turkey of a velociraptor, feathers on the T-rex, Stiff Necked Long-Necked Dinosaurs made my heart sing. They were about to do a consistent cartoon style while maintaining accuracy. And there is more than dinosaurs, there was Dickinsonia, Dimetrodon (and they do mention that they are not dinosaurs but a relative of primitive mammals), and more!
This book would make a great coffee table book, a gift for kids (or an adult like me who loves prehistory), or a gift for a teacher

Very cute book! Took me forever to read bc I was reading other things in the meantime but this is the kind of book you can flip to a random page and still learn something interesting

3.5 stars, rounded up.
This is a high-quality hardcover book with gorgeous gilded elements and a ribbon bookmark, and instead of just focusing on dinosaurs, it also includes other prehistoric creatures that people are less familiar with. The book shares photographs of actual fossils along with illustrations and two paragraphs of text about each creature. This will appeal to kids who love dinosaurs, and is appropriate for a broad age range. However, I wish that the author had included more information about the science of paleontology and answered more "Why?" and "How?" questions that the material raises. If someone is looking for in-depth information and answers to lots of questions, they'll be best pursuing a different resource, while this is a good basic introduction and photograph collection.
I received a free copy from the publisher through Amazon Vine in exchange for an honest review.
