Absolutely beautiful book! Very moving! I could barely put it down. It was like I was journeying through the lives of the characters with them!

A beautiful book set in WW2 that is certain to be a wonderful read for not only kids but adults as well. I simply adored the story.

While I enjoyed some parts of this I found it dragged a lot in places, especially in the first part of the story. I also really struggled to pin point the target audience - not one I'll be recommending to my pupils anyway.

A beautiful book, placing themes of loss that everyone can relate to in an interesting narrative. I particularly loved the part where they lived at Auntie Megs, what a brilliant place for children to grow up (although not perfect, adding a bit of realism to the otherwise almost Utopian feel to that part of the story). Although it could be considered cliche, the ending was sweet and you'd grown to love Arthur so much you were desperate for a happy ending. And that's what you got.

This was the first book i ever remember loving. I read it when i was ten and up until I was 13 (when i read the hunger games) it was my faveourite book. Its what really got me into books, i alwaysliked reading but i didnt realise until then i could fall in love with characters, care about their journies as much as my own-sometimes even more so- hate their enemies, love their friends. It was a truly amazing book.
I loved it because it started from the start. It started when Arthur and Marty were just children, not knowing what was happening to them, confused and afraid they stuck together during the good times and the bad. The book followed the story of their lives together, struggling to find their way in a land they do not know, the only thing they have is each other and it really is the most beautiful of friendships.
It was also bittersweet, in some ways happy, in others not so much but i still loved it, even through the sad parts and the parts where you felt they could not possiblely go on.

Honestly, this book was horrible. I thought the ending was ordinary and predictable. In short, the book bored me to tears. There was no description, hardly any dialogue, therefore I didn't know anything about the settings or the characters appearance. The book was awful and I totally recommend NOT reading it. Yes, like any books it had interesting parts, but not many. Honestly, don't waste your time, don't read it.
