*sigh* I don't even know what to say right now. I literally liked Cal the most but they destroyed his character so badly in this one. The only good thing in this book was Cami everything else was just so disappointing.
Alana throughout the book was so boring and had absolutely no character development, throughout the book she kept saying I'll support you in leaving your addiction but she was all talking kinda person because never once she tried understanding his side of story and support him provide him with her company so that he won't feel anxious but nah girlie was actually never there for him. Coming from their past i wasn't expecting her to trust him fully but the least i expected was her being supportive toward him when he's trying to leave his addiction instead all she did was give him more reason to drink and make him doubt his abilities like girl what? Do you even remember the amount of times you've said "I'll support you in leaving your alcohol addiction" like wot?! Even in the last chapters when he gave her a chip and then ordered alcohol to check his tolerance she just straightforwardly accused him even though her own FREKIN childhood best friend was stopping her?! Her character was just not for me.

Cal *sigh* there was so much I was expecting but this book delivered absolutely nothing. I loved the character of Cal in the fine print and the final offer but it turned out his book totally destroyed his character. He kept saying I'll leave alcohol but kept going back to it, he didn't even tried changing his coping habit to change alcohol with something other than Alana. Also his journey from self hate to self love was neglected by author sm like we just got glimpses nothing else and it was so important for his character development that it makes me angry that a book with over 500 pages didn't had the necessary scenes it should've had?!
Also the book left behind the fine print when it comes to a book being dragged for no reason/plot.
Now now the whole town hating on him was SO FREKIN CHILDISH like what're you ? A growing up teenager with hormonal imbalance? Like what ?!it was so annoying. The only good thing about this book was Cami. My girl was literally the smartest one in the whole book series. End of discussion.

Now let's talk about this whole series
Completing this series = completing torture i brought upon myself for no reason.
Because the series was literally about people with daddy and mommy issues getting together (except Zahra she had cheater ex boyfriend syndrome). So all the stories combined are XX and XY chromosomes with mommy and daddy issues getting together having sex then the XY chromosomes hurting their respective XX chromosome and then working hard to get their XX chromosome back. End
Yeah the para above literally sums up almost everything the books had. This series was legit bad BAD and I'm not forgiving y'll fiyr lying to me that this series is good and all because I'm definitely coming in your dreams with Ryuk's cosplay to scare you

Oh Cal ❤️‍

I thought the book was good, but it was the weakest part for me. I liked how Cal’s addiction was portrayed—it felt very realistic. I can also understand why Lana had her concerns, but somehow her character just didn’t convince me.

I’m giving one star for Cal and one more star for Cal’s brothers and sisters-in-law. If I don’t like a female protagonist of a romance novel, then there’s something wrong with the book.

i finished this book this morning and i thought the whole day “what do i rate this” i kind of had a love hate relationship with cal. at the beginning i absolutely hated him but then i started loving him. i was giggling and kicking my feet at some parts but i still didn’t feel complete with it. lauren asher is one of my absolute favorite authors and to say this was a bad book would be a lie but its definitely one of my least favorites. i think this book made me realize i don’t really like childhood friends to strangers to lovers. it felt like i didn’t get enough of their past to understand their relationship. although others might agree. it’s just that in my mind something was missing. i’m going to leave 3 stars but maybe if it sticks with me in the future i’ll change it to a 4
