Y'all, this book was AMAZING, and I don't say that lightly. Great character development (at least for our heroine so far). Relationship building was pretty quick, I would definitely say it's leaning towards insta-love, at least on a few of the "heroes" parts, but this surprisingly didn't bother me because these characters are all nuts lol so, let's get into my review.

As usual, my review will contain some spoilers but I always try to leave out the truly big spoilers. So stop reading if you don't want any at all.

Let's start with Lola, our Harley Quinn style heroine, The Night Slayer. I absolutely love her. She's a psycho serial killer, no other way to put it. Our girl has been through some major trauma throughout her childhood. You get little hints at it throughout the book, especially when you know the types of men she murders, and you get the big reveal of her story at the end of this book. She's dead inside, or at least she thinks she is because she has buried her feelings so deep inside that she's constantly having to find ways to make herself feel alive, which usually comes in the form of murdering disgusting men. She doesn't fear death, she knows it's only a matter of time with her lifestyle. So when she is kidnapped by the family of one of her victims, she doesn't fear death at their hands, or fear being their "chained killer" so to speak. She has this madwoman vibe to her, definitely reminds me of Harley Quinn with her manic smiles and laughter at danger, that just makes her fit in with this family of criminals so well, if only they hadn't met because she killed their son/brother. Because that can't be forgiven in their family, no matter how much these men come to care for her or how much they love her body, she killed their brother, and the head of their family, their father, will never let that slide. All sex is consensual with these men.
This girl had me on a roller coaster of emotions, no lie. I FELT for her. Being in her mind and watching her go from someone with no cares who is just out there with a death wish, to listening to her wonder what it would have been like to have someone that cared for her, hearing her say she knows that people like her weren't BORN for happy endings, that even from a child she was destined to never be happy, hearing her talk about how much she hated herself because the life she had made her realise that her bodily perfection is a flaw in itself because of disgusting men, y'all, it got to me. And then hearing her story... what she went through... I want her to kill every disgusting man in this world. And it makes you understand the state of her mind, how she came to be the way she is, and it makes you love her even more.

As for the guys, we do get some background info on them. We see them become obsessed with our Lola, even if they hate that they care for her because of what she did to their brother. I will say that the relationship building is a little lacking. While Lola talks about how much she enjoys being around them because they all fit together so well with how crazy they are, she knows there's not going to be a happy ending for her, but one of the guys talks about her as if he already loves her. Which to me, kind of seemed pretty quick, BUT I will say it didn't turn me off from the book because they aren't throwing out I Love You's or anything yet. I'm hoping that now that we have a foundation for these characters and the guys know her history, we're going to see more relationship building in the next book. We're hopefully going to get some clarification on who her actual harem will be, because I know she's been with 3 of the 5 men in this book so far, and she mentions the other two, but they aren't as present in the book as the 3 she is actually sleeping with, so I guess we will see how it unfolds.

This truly was a great book just because of Lola herself. Don't get me wrong, the guys are hot and crazy, my fave, but the main focal point in the character development department of this book was definitely Lola. You realllllllyy get to explore her mind in this book.

Here I go, RUNNING to the next book.

Dialogue is too repetitive and I just wasn't feeling the storyline. I fell asleep twice.

“If ever there was a crazy psycho bitch, it was me, just ask all of the men who’d died.”

I wasn’t a fan of the writing style the first chapter when it was Lola’s thoughts, but once everyone else was introduced to the story, the dialogue and narrative felt more natural.

The heroine is a serial killer who is abducted by a mafia-esque family and she becomes their pet assassin and lover. Fun to read a story where the female lead character is unapologetically insane and violent! Reminded me of Den of Vipers but better writing quality. I liked how Lola had no issues about getting what she wanted from the various guys and hooked up with them early and often. I thought she had the best chemistry with Maddox, curious to see if her relationships with the other guys deepen in the later books.

Lola’s inner voice tended to ramble so there were a few times I skimmed. I was bummed we didn’t get to see her go out and kick ass besides the Mario and realtor scenes. And though I liked the steamy sex scenes, I also wasn’t sold on how
Spoilercomfortable she was having sex with the guys after her past trauma with her brother. This was a core, formative part of her psycho character yet she barely seems to let it affect her during actual sex, which I would think would be the most triggering event possible? But no, it was jealousy over Maddox and the sight of birth control pills that set her off.

Firstly, this is probably one of the most beautiful covers I have seen in a very long time. That alone makes me want to have this book displayed on one of my shelves.

Besides this gorgeous artwork, the story itself is fantastic. Our FMC, Lola, is psychotic and I adore her. Ruthless, twisted, damaged, and irresistible, I loved her banter with the other characters and with herself. I was rooting for her the whole time. I love the way the author let us into her mind to see how and why she is the way that she is. Other than my new major girl crush, the men introduced were just as interesting, with backstories that I hope we get to see more of.

I also liked seeing some characters from the author’s previous release, Voyeur. Looking forward to the next installment in this trilogy.

Dark and a lot insane, not exactly a gripping story, but just what I was in the mood for.

Did I like this? Do I need therapy? I was disturbed but like also intrigued. I was sick to my stomach, but like also couldn’t stop reading ya know? Idk but this was a fun ride! I enjoyed this one!

Am I gonna recommend it to my friends? Not sure they’ll be able to handle this one- But this writer could take all of my money and I’ll read anything she writes. Please make sure you read trigger warnings!! And be aware that this book is more for those who like (or are used to) this genre of dark romances.

Don’t read it, but like read it…get what I’m saying? Ready for book 2!

TRIGGER WARNINGS **** look them up first, Don’t be crazy.

Kinda mind fuck and den of vipers combined. But def not a mind fuck dupe because there weren’t any questions I had for the end of this book. I don’t know if I’ll read the next because I’m not as intrigued as I was with this at the beginning.
