A very fun delicious read! I ate it right up.
"I leaned back, studying her as she finished my bun. A bit of icing covered her lip. Her nose was still red from the cold, her hair wild and windblown. My little heathen."
"I want to thank you - for everything." I squeezed his fingers, my own stiff and aching from the cold. "Célie was right. I don't deserve you. I made a real mess of your life when I came into it."
His other hand came down on top of mine. Warm and steady. To my surprise, he smiled. "I'm glad you did."
"Reid, if you don't dance with me, I'll go and find someone who will."
His grip tightened on my hips. "No, you won't."
"How can you still be hungry?" he asked, incredulous. "You ate three helpings at breakfast this morning." I made a face. "That was tuna. I have a second stomach for dessert."
"Why the fuck is everyone in this kingdom trying to murder my wife?"
"Reid," she said slowly, incredulously, "did you just curse?"
Then she leaned over Coco's arm and heaved bile all over the forest floor."
"I love you, Lou." His eyes welled with fresh tears. "I-I've never seen anyone savour anything the you do everything. You make me feel alive. Just being in your presence - it's addictive. You're addictive. It doesn't matter you're a witch. The way you see the world... I want to see it that way too. I want to be with you always, Lou. I never want to be parted from you again."
I couldn't stop the tears from falling down my cheeks. "Where you go, I will go."

Just wanna drop some quotes I particularly liked here:"I leaned back, studying her as she finished my bun. A bit of icing covered her lip. Her nose was still red from the cold, her hair wild and windblown. My little heathen."

I loved this novel way more than I thought I would. Lou is loud, proud, and more than happy to stand ip for what she believes in. A love story set in France and featuring interactions between witches and the church.
Initially I was worried that this book was overhyped but boy was I wrong!! I loved this book!
Fun at the start but the ending wasn’t interesting enough to make me wanna read the second book.
Slow start. Probably 100 pages too long. But I really liked it. One spicy scene, but really a cool storyline. Definitely some ACOTAR vibes. But most fantasy romances have that. I’d recommend this to my friends who want a fantasy book to read. I’m excited to read the second book. Not sure when I’ll start it since I basically did nothing once I started reading this book! Went from page 20-done in a little over a day. Took 11 days to get through the first 20 pages. Like I said. Slow start.
Full review on my blog, Storied Adventures!
4.5 Stars!
I was really nervous about this one because of the crazy hype it's gotten. And I know people who have both loved it and others who hated it. BUT I actually love it! Lou and Reid are definitely one of my new OTPs! Lou has a sassy, fighting spirit that I adore and Reid is a good balance to her!
Just have to say, I am a non-denominational Christian and I do NOT believe the same stuff they believe in this book. I normally don't bring religion up but because they talk a lot about the Bible, I just wanted to say that that is NOT how it is. That is not what Christian's believe. This religion in this book is more align with old Catholicism which is NOT the same thing as what I believe. That stuff is creepy.
