Review for the entire trilogy, without spoilers:
I’ve seen MANY bad reviews for this series but I find it very entertaining! Hence the high ratings. I haven’t read many books in the YA-fantasy-romance genre so perhaps it’s because I have less expectations.
I like the simplicity of the story, it doesn’t stray too far from the premise, and it explores the landscape of the fictional country it’s set in rather well. The conflicts & drama are well paced, except in the beginning of book 2. The third act of all the books are immensely satisfying. The magic system is okay, not groundbreaking but interesting enough.
The characters! They main protagonists & their friends feel alive. They are young & stubborn. May not be the most likeable characters but they have depth that is believable.
The antagonists are a bit more simplistic but it’s forgivable. Overall, it’s a very enjoyable trilogy!

For no apparent reason I was skeptical going into this. It took a bit to sweep me away, but by then I couldn't stop. I was carried by wave after wave of intrigue and surprise and will-it-or-won't-it and there were even a few twists that I didn't expect. 10/10 would recommend, and can't wait for Blood & Honey!!
All I have to say is, this book is amazing and I am in love.

Very fun! Does over-dramatic romance as only YA fantasy can, and I was into it. Extremely light on world building and the actual plot around wtf is happening, but I guess it’s a series so maybe it’ll be explained in book 2! Not sure what conflict will be introduced in the next book romantically because it seems like their relationship is pretty zipped up nicely at the end of book 1. And the majority of the plot was their romance sooo. But we’ll see!
