The beginning was really sad. I didn't really want her to move with her father but I guess she had to. The twist is really surprising and not something you would expect.

Sones was one of my favorite authors in high school and I can still say I love the sappy feel in her romances and the general flow of her books.
I am not a romance reader at all, I wouldn't consider myself one, anyway, but I will read any of her books over again, even those that don't necessarily concern romance. Would recommend these books to anyone studying young adult literature or any young adults.

This is an amazing book and it is something that has happened in my life just recently. I didn't think it would be an appropriate title to read after what had happened in my life, but I was surprised Sonya Sones has really thought a lot about the thoughts and feelings of someone that has gone through the loss of a parent. The book is very moving and you follow Ruby on a journey from the loss of a parent to the gain of a parent.

I really enjoyed how Ruby was really against the idea of moving half way across America in order to be with her father who she hasn't seen since she was very little. Throughout the beginning of the book you find out that Ruby's aunt always took her to the cinema on her birthdays to see her father who is a big Hollywood actor. I loved the journey that Ruby went on to find where she belonged within her father's life and the people around him. She has a lot to deal with as well as travelling across the country and then she has to start a new school where she thinks she doesn't belong.

Overall, I absolutely loved this book as it felt like the author really understood how Ruby would feel about the events that had happened in her life. I loved the way that there was pure emotion throughout the whole book and what happened throughout Ruby's life not just with her family but with her boyfriend and her best friend. If you haven't read any Sonya Sones before then read this and your want to read others by her. I know I have.

This book could have been so cheesy, but instead was pulled off beautifully

This was another great verse novel from Sonya Sones. This is the fourth of Sones' books I've read, and I can say I haven't been disappointed yet.

I was a bit surprised with where the story went on this one. I was thinking it was going to be more of a romance focus, but instead there was more of a focus on Ruby healing after her mother's death and other major life changes. It was this and some other minor themes that really made the story stick for me. The characters and their actions were very realistic, especially Sones' younger characters. This author is a great at writing a teenager's point of view and voice effectively.

I always enjoy the way Sones can work a well-developed plot, characters, and conflict into her verse. The limited word count allows for each line to be to the point and, at times, more thought-provoking than a normal prose novel could. If this were written in prose I don't think it'd have held as much enjoyment, for me. Though, I have a feeling if this author were to write prose novels, I'd be just as eager to read them.

Jadi aku baca ini sekitar 9 tahun yg lalu (whattttt) tapi masih aja nempel di kepalaku. daannn aku lupa judulnya 😅
aku masih ingat sebagai besar ceritanya, dan buku ini menarik sih menurutku.

While reading this book I wasn't thrilled until the end. The ending I thought wrapped it up nicely and brought the book to a wonderful end. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and easy read.

I need to stop saying this, but I love novels written in verse. I think the verse form of poetry is exceptionally powerful, novels written in verse always seem to be beautifully written, and this book was no exception. I’ve read two other books by Sonya Sones, one of which I loved and one of which I didn't, and I’d say this one is in the middle. The story is powerful and I was captivated the entire time I was reading this, I read it in one sitting. It has a great message behind it that I'm sure everyone can appreciate.

i liked this it was a quick cute read. i think what i loved most was the parts at school. oh those parts made me laugh. this book got me out of a reading slup i really really liked it.

I didn't anticipate loving this book like I did. Its description suggests it's got little depth, but it actually hooked me and I walked away moved. A quick read, but a lovely one.
