DID NOT FINISH

I hated Krissy and if I had to read one more sentence about cat vomit, I would vomit too.

Cute, cozy mystery but with an underdeveloped protagonist.

Not my cup of tea, but I finished it.
I'll try the sequel Death by Tea but I have learned my lesson - do not buy books solely because the title is cool.

Mc was pretty annoying and likely should not own a pet.

Absolutely hilarious. I love the main character she’s snarky and a total smart ass. This book will keep you laughing. I saw the other reviews about not having a plot line but there is. She solving the murder of one of the people in her town. Trying not to add spoilers.

But I love the way this author writes with the sarcasm and snarky replies. Look forward to the rest of the series.

This was a nice cozy mystery. I liked the premise. Krissy and her friend Vicki open a bookstore in a small town. Within a few days of opening, one of their patrons dies in what is declared an accident. As the police think that the patrons death had to do with the coffee Krissy served, she decided to solve the murder (although it wasn't declared a murder). I have a few issues with the story. One, Krissy is new to the town but she goes around asking and demanding others tell her private information about their lives, so she can solve the "murder". Two, Krissy is constantly asking questions in her mind. Some of the questions are ridiculous. I feel like the main character asking questions is a way to further the story without the author having to describe the plot or delve into details. Krissy was busy assigning blame on everyone without proof. By the end of the book, I wanted the police to solve the death instead of Krissy, as she was annoying. I did listen to this book and the narrator did a great job.

Main character is utterly unlikeable, rude, annoying, has low self-confidence, and yet is so entitled she repeatedly oversteps and takes it upon herself to solve a murder investigation that she has absolutely no business being involved with. She asks strangers invasive, personal questions after literally stalking them and breaking into their homes. Yet, there are absolutely no repercussions for her actions. The chief of police laughs it off and sets her up with her (hunky ofc) son. She is a terrible friend, employee, and cat owner. She only ever says negative things about her cat and yells that she “hates it,” which makes me sad and dislike the MC even more. Why have a cat and cute bookstore café on the cover if the MC actively dislikes and avoids them both? In addition to the terrible MC, the plot itself is cliche, predictable, yet boring. I wasn’t going to trash on this book until the big plot twist was revealed that (gasp) the jilted bisexual lover didn’t want her gf getting back with her husband 😒 Now, the actual double affair was kind of unexpected, but was ruined by the embarrassment and shock value given to a same-sex-relationship. When I thought I couldn’t roll my eyes harder, the hunky male love interest swoops in to save the day and is literally called “My Angel”. Yawn. Every character is a cliched stereotype except for the MC who again is just a terrible, nosy, rude person. A lot of things in this book are so outdated I was honestly shocked to see it was published in 2017. I’m not usually one to leave bad reviews, but this book was so bad that it made me mad, and I want to make a new filter for my TBR that’s “cozy but not cliche mystery.” Even for cheesy cozy mystery, this was just bad.
