This book had me in a chokehold from the moment I started it. It kept me on the edge of my seat, always wanting to know what came next. Definitely something I think more people should read!
I really enjoyed this book. Quick read, well written and eye opening.

This book had potential to me but then the "gothic" elements got to be too much. Initially, I was interested in the supernatural elements because they seemed like subtle nods to cultural ideas and superstitions but then it took a hard left (in my opinion) and went to far. This made the twists toward the end not hit as hard because I was expecting/ guessed them. I do think the right reader will enjoy this book and I did find many interesting elements. The contrast between the sisters was really well done as was the contrast of the civil rights movements in the North and South.
This was hauntingly beautiful, and while I gather my thoughts, y'all better be adding this to your TBR because I loved this one

While this book was part ghost story and part twins separated because their parents were different races and this is the Jim Crow South, I wanted more out of it.
It was good. I like that there is a curse put on the baby passing for white and when the time comes after her Grandmother's death, she is told she needs to choose which life she's going to continue- passing as white or Negro. It's also very ghostly and supernatural.
I hated the white people for desecrating the graves of the colored and wanting to move them, just so they didn't have to lie in the same place, it made me so mad.
