And just like that, the story of the Queens of Fennbirn is over. And I’m sad.
In the final book in the Three Dark Crowns series, Arsinoe, Mirabella, Katherine and Legion Queen Jules must fight for the sake of Fennbirn. As the four women plot, plan and scheme for their final confrontation, all of them do so with heavy hearts. Who will survive?
I am so sad that this series is over but very glad I read it. I honestly had never heard of it before and kind of feel like a dodo for not reading it sooner. But not too much, though. Because I was lucky enough to read this series for the first time knowing absolutely nothing about it. I was introduced to the Triplet Queens and got to know and care for them. I laughed with them, cried with them and smiled as more than one of them found love. The final book was no different and wrecked my emotions as the final battle for the island drew ever closer.
I really hope this series is adapted into a television show because it would be epic if done properly. The characters are very well thought out and the gifts they have would make for great television.
I really hope Kendare Blake writes a complete novel or series about the Oracle Queen, as the novella in Queens of Fennbirn was just too short for my taste. I would love to see a novel about the Blue Queen, as well. Although the author touched on that story in Book Four, again it was just too short. Here’s hoping readers get those books in the future.

While the third act wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking (perhaps because I did not want to say goodbye to our queens), I found Five Dark Fates to be a good ending to the series and would recommend it to anyone looking for a magical adventure to Fennbirn Island.
It took a lot to remember where the series had left off, and the author just kind of jumped right in and kept at it as if I had just put the previous book down. Plus there are SO many secondary characters; I would’ve finished sooner if I hadn’t had to reread so many sentences trying to remember who was who.
But anyway, overall, a VERY satisfying ending to the series, and I am extremely grateful for it.

I loved the premise of this series but was let down by the ending. Main character deaths seemed too rushed, too many unresolved or too easily resolved plot points. 2.75
