anyway, this book really wrecked me but was also really good. so fuck it, five stars.

I love this series so much and was sad to see it end. The world building and history of Fennbirn was one of my favorite parts and I love how Blake dove into it more and more throughout the series. However, I did not love this last book as much as all of the others. I thought it was rushed and wrapped up too neatly (despite all the deaths). The death of Mirabella came completely out of nowhere after the last book and most of this book built her up to be the savior of the island against the mist. Up until the point where they burned her body I kept expecting her to come back to life somehow because I just didn’t believe it. It didn’t seem to really have a point.
I also was not sure about the character of Jules and her whole part in the rebellion and the fate of the island. If she was going to be this important Legion Queen I would like to know a little more about her and her thoughts and importance.
But I really didn’t hate this book as much as it sounds like I did! I like Pietyr and Billy and Arsione just trying her best. The whole series has become my number one recommendation to friends and I don’t plan on changing that any time soon.

I am really surprised by how well this series ended. The previous two books lagged, while this one felt more cohesive and linked together. I really enjoyed how the storylines interwove with the different characters and subplots and that they were neatly ended. Overall, this book does the whole series justice and reminds me of the first book, with the action and different characters with their own motives for their actions.

It is not the ending I would have wished for, but was probably the most fitting way for it to end.

Audiobook. What a really great finish!!! Sad at some points. Loved the way this quartet turned out.

my emotions are all over the place

I'm sad that this series is over. I loved every moment I spent on Fennbirn with its Queens. A well done conclusion. She's an auto buy author for me.

3.5
It wasn't quite a four.
I still have a lot of questions that didn't get answered.
The book really dragged in places and then suddenly sped up and everything happened at once.
I am a bit disappointed in the ending and how much more probably should have been explained before you hit the last one hundred pages....
