As another reviewer mentioned, this is a companion book to Beautiful Disaster and should not be expected to be a standalone novel.

I have to say that I highly anticipated this book, after being so enamored by Beautiful Disaster, but ended up being disappointed. I felt that this was a rush job. In some scenes that overlapped between the 2 books, it seemed like McGuire just copied and pasted it, then changed only the pronouns. I felt like more could have been done to give us better insight into Travis' character.

In addition, there was one pivotal scene that occurred in Beautiful Disaster that was barely mentioned in this book, which I found frustrating.

In the end, I'm glad I read it than not. However, I think it could have been a much better story with more time and planning.

Plot: follows Beaitiful Disaster, so...good
Characters: follows Beautiful Disaster, so...good
Typos: very few
Love scenes: low key
Reality factor: real enough not to detract from the story

Worth the price? $7.99 - definitely no
Would I read it again? No
Life changer? No

“One of these days you’re going to fall in love, son. Don’t settle for just anyone. Choose the girl that doesn’t come easy, the one you have to fight for, and then never stop fighting. Never”— she took a deep breath—“ stop fighting for what you want.

-Jamie McGuire, Walking Disaster: A Novel

When I heard that Jamie McGuire was writing Walking Disaster, I was so ecstatic because I absolutely loved reading Beautiful Disaster.

For those of you thinking or hoping that Walking Disaster is a continuation from Beautiful Disaster, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but sadly it is not. This one is a companion book to BD. The same story told from Travis Maddox’s POV. If you have yet to read Beautiful Disaster I would definitely read it before tackling WD. My review of BD can be found here.

You might think what is the point of reading Walking Disaster if you have already read BD? Well for me, WD enhanced Abby and Travis’s story. Walking Disaster felt more like a book that complimented BD. Combined, the reader, i.e., me get the full experience.

Travis is a dog plain and simple. He is far from perfect. He practically goes after any hot female with pulse. And he drinks, and is involved in cage fighting. But something happens to him once Abby Abernathy enters his world.

“I decided a long time ago I would feed on the vultures until a dove came along. A pigeon. The kind of soul that didn’t impede on anyone; just walked around worrying about its own business, trying to get through life without pulling everyone else down with its own needs and selfish habits. Brave. A communicator. Intelligent. Beautiful. Soft-spoken. A creature that mates for life. Unattainable until she has a reason to trust you.”

-Jamie McGuire, Walking Disaster: A Novel

He doesn't magically do a 180 and change his destructive ways, but he does see something different in her. He knows right away that she is someone special and he treats her that way. From then on he is determined to have a friendship with her even though at first Abby, is not really convinced they should even have one.

Reading it made me smile, and reminded me of all the reasons why I loved BD so much, plus it reinforced my love for Travis. Seeing everything through his eyes was awesome. It helped me understand his thought process and reasoning behind his actions better. And the Epilogue was the perfect conclusion. I have three words that describe how I felt: I LOVED IT!!!

**I received this book from Simon & Schuster / Atria Books in exchange for nothing but my honest opinion. Thank you. **

First time reading ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Second time reading ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nothing new was added to this book. Travis's reactions to their relationship were made pretty obvious in "Beautiful Disaster". Overall this story seemed quickly closed and the ending poorly drafted.

So, Walking Disaster is Beautiful Disaster told from Travis' pov. I loved it!!!

The prologue was so good! It told the story of Travis loosing the only woman he ever loved, his mother.

I really enjoyed seeing the story of Abby and Travis through his eyes. Yes, Travis is a jerk, a pig, even an asshole, but I feel as though I understand him better now. I was surprised by how angsty and needy he was and how destroyed he was by screwing up the best thing he ever had.

One of the best things about this book was not only the prologue as I already mentioned, but the epilogue as well. It gave us a glimpse of Travis and Abby's life in the future. I am a sucker for a happy ending and I was very pleased with the way this book ended.

I was super stoked to read Travis' POV int this book. I loved beautiful disaster and anxiously awaited walking disaster. It was great to see the reasons behind some of the actions. The biggest reason I didn't give a five star was that I expected more. More how. Well, I was hoping for more of an explanation of why Travis was so hell bent on working for Benny. Also, this book made me not like Abby as much. Mainly because she seemed so flippant and inconsiderate. If I don't like something I'll just run or make Travis miserable by dating someone else and rubbing his nose in it. Beautiful Disaster was a five star. This could have been, but wasn't. Overall a good read, but disappointing nonetheless.

3,5

Sometimes I hate romance retellings where its the same story just In the guys pov but this one was actually good and I enjoyed it. I did put it down for a little while since I was out of my romance mood but I picked it up again last night and absolutely loved it.

This was a fun read and I really liked seeing things from Travis' perspective. I'm also glad we didn't go over EVERYTHING in detail.
