What You Did is a thriller/mystery but in part an examination of the effects of rape and how difficult it can be to deal with legally while respecting the victim and her experience. I found the book hard to put down.

Based on a reunion of 6 university friends which on the surface is a pleasant enough occurrence until the host Ali's life is thrown into turmoil when one of the guests is raped, she is torn between her best friend and her husband who is accused. It also jumps back 20 years, to their time at uni where a young woman was murdered. None of the characters are particularly likeable apart from Bill, and at parts, the story seems to drag, but the last quarter of the book speeds by with the epilogue being my favourite part of the book. Dark themes, lies, and deception from the majority of the friendship group make it overall an enjoyable read.

Super good read it in a day! Super suspenseful, but at the same time felt like it was along the lines of every other book like this. I started to figure out who did it but it wasn’t until the end. Great read if you want a quick suspense!
I thought I was going to love this book based on the first few chapters.
